And it's don't let the door hit you on the way out to Garth Tander.

Ive never really been a Tander person but I doubt he would be happy getting that sort of send off.....kicked out for a rich kid.

Driving with SVG next year will soften the blow though.

Disappointing, I have been a GRM supporter for many years whilst Tander could bee seen to have passed his used by date he deserved a better farewell than this. And Richie Stanaway, this bloke is an absolute sour faced whinging tosser..
I am shattered that this twit has joined this team.

Facebook was on fire yesterday on the GRM site . This move may/has cost the GRM team a huge following .

Drivers make a team , whilst Gary has always been a bit of a gambler when it comes to his drivers , this I don't believe is one of his smartest moves .

Boost have made the decision for him , they wanted to have young upcoming drivers wearing their colours , but Stanaway is not a good choice .

Stanaway is a steerer , not a driver . He can steer a race car , has proven this when paired up in 2016 and 2017 , but he was by far the worst of the ford team drivers in 2018 .

What changed ? Stanaway in 2016/17 was steering a race car that was set up by others , in 2018 he could not get his own setup right .

GRM now have a situation that they now have 2 drivers with limited set up ability . Time will tell but I don't think they will do well in 2019 .

I agree, as a GRM supporter since I was a kid, I am questioning weather I stay loyal.. I just cant stand Stanaway and feel they did wrong by Tander. If only Volvo had stayed on board they would still have Scotty Mac...

GRM had no choice.  They needed a title sponsor to pay the Bills for 2019.

Golding hasn't set the world on fire and imo might never, but he fits the "youth" image Boost Mobile want....

The Boost owner has made no secret about his desire to be a team owner like Red Bull in F1.
Garry Rogers is well into his 70's and knows he'll never raise a budget to match 888 & DJRTP.
I'd say end of 2019 or 2020 Boost will purchase GRM.

Sadly it's about what you bring to the team financially, not talent wise when you join a lesser team.

I reckon Garth would still have had to be paid out for his 2019 contract , It was only a couple of weeks ago GRM signed Garth up on a 1 year contract .

Its the same in most motorsport.. there was an article recently about MotoGP/Moto 2- how riders buy their ride for the year.... The first line is so true..

Quote
It's all business, all money. That's the problem now. That's just how it goes,” Redding said.

“For people to even get into racing now - how many people are paying to ride? This is world championship racing. Regardless if it's Moto3, Moto2, MotoGP.

“Even if the teams have the budget, they're still charging for riders that need to pay. Because they can, because people will pay. But then you're not getting the best of the best.”
https://au.motorsport.com/motogp/news/redding-insane-paid-rides/4308382/

that is just wrong.. if your Shit and don't earn a drive/ride, you shouldn't be there.

Can’t say I was ever a fan of Tander’s either.

But all of these blokes retiring or semi retiring have been around for ages and the time has come for them to move on...with them going willingly...or not.

Why ? If they are faster than the young fellas on the track .

So early to mid 40 is too old to be competitive , but their speed is still faster than a young gun half that age .

I agree that the sport need young blood , but some of these younger drivers would have trouble driving a 2 inch nail into a block of balsa wood .

They only have a bum in the seat because Daddy has paid for the ride .

Young fellas like Scott McLaughlin got his ride by working hard and proving that he has talent . Not because Daddy or some sponsor paid the bill .

Someone better tell John Bowe to stop winning races - not in taxis but still competitive in several classes...  hes 64....

Incredibly, JB is ranked #1 in Australian motorsport for number of race wins, pole positions and fastest laps. And that's across all forms of motorsport, from dirt ovals to open wheelers, since records began.

JB is also the only driver in Australia to have one his multiple championships across 4 different categories. He's also one of the few who has won both the Bathurst 1000 and Bathurst 12 Hour.

JB is one of my longtime idol's.  Loved him in the Shell Sierra and still get a buzz watching charged through the TCM field in the Torana.  Likewise Gentlemen Jim. He could put a wheelie bin on pole at Bathurst.

Tander didn't have a lot of options when he got booted from Walkinshaw HRT.  (Of interest, Boost Mobile came on board with Walkinshaw as a major sponsor not long after....)
Maybe his limited options had nothing to do with age or speed....

A huge amount of drivers come out of contract at the end of this year.  Be interesting who lands where and who returns.
