I think that the Auto Action article may be a little more informed .

I don't know if any manufacturer is ready to pull the trigger on a non V8 powered race car .

I think that the fans would walk in mass , as well as several major sponsors have already stated that if the V8 goes , so does their sponsorship dollars .

It will want to do a lot better ontrack than its Bastardised  Greens Tuff  Palmer Tube Mills  Grandfather did ..
Mustang's and Camaro's racing around ...
Not realy mainstream identyfiable Australian cars are they [ Even though the Falcs and Crumbledoors are just Silhouette cars ] , Sure they have been raced here over the years, Reckon the we might see a fair drop off in the spectators ..
Oh well time will tell .

I don't understand the excitement. They won't be running a Mustang, just something that looks like one......

Using the current 5L pushrod V8 for the foreseeable future. A TTV6 makes no sense unless they start selling the TTV6 Ecoboost Mustang in OZ.

There is a 650HP V6 in the Ford GT Le Man program they could use, or a 5.2L Coyote OHC V8 in the GT4 Mustang.

The current unit has 25 years of development behind it and I'd imagine cheaper to maintain and rebuild than the above 2.

I'd like to see a Dodge Hellcat tackle Bathurst, 6Hr, 12Hr or 1000K events.
There was one in USA, a crook that outran a Helicopter and the cops.
Running out of fuel was the only problem apparently.

I can think of one that used to......

USED to be ...exactly !!  ;D

Even back in the days of the SLR5000 Torana, you took the basic road car and then did every little trick in the book to make more power, handle better, strengthen the chassis and bodywork in areas that were prone to cracking etc etc !!

....and that's one of the reasons it was interesting. The current formula has become irrelevant.

Sadly not. Chrysler last year stopped producing RHD versions of the 300C, which  is built on the same platform as the Challenger / Charger.

Plus our Australian do gooders would have a heart attack of excitement at the thought of banning a 700HP car. If Dodge tried selling the Hellcat.

Ahh, I don't know.....the current formula seems to be working...big crowds every year at the tracks.

Phillip Island has been relatively deserted the last few times I've been.
Bathurst crowds look nothing like when I was there last.

There'd be too many complaints that they were flogging all the Aussie made cars and they'd be banned... its never happened before.

Ok, so there was no Godzilla or Sierra Turbo's then?
And the Dodge Viper was obviously let down by it's sub performance brakes.

I'm not so sure about that.
What you hear on the broadcast about crowd numbers.....doesn't always appear to match the numbers in the stands which seem to be emptier in recent times.
Just my observation.

Presto Race ready Mustang and Camaro [ They do it when a team changes from a Ford to Holden,  AKA 888 Racing ] .
