Part of me wishes we could get NBN at the moment.  Telstra has had 7 outages/periods of degraded performance where we are today, to the extent that I had to ring them 4 times, as I couldn't access anything let alone work remotely.

After trying to blame NBN Co, who don't even have our address on the build schedule, they agreed that they might have a fault somewhere between our house and the node.  So I'm in the enviable position of waiting 4 hours for a tech to turn up tomorrow, no doubt to tell me there's no fault, just like the past 4 calls in the last 3 months.

I worked for Telstra in broadband services for a while, and off and on as a network engineer for 25 years, and the dude in Manilla was surprised that I didn't believe him that turning a modem off and on again more than once could fix my problem....

Rant over...

so
It appears that Australians have been cheating on their tax.

That's very very very naughty.

Only multinationals and big business are allowed to fudge their tax.

And we are told we are all evil by crooks that get caught carrying fake passports, counterfeit $50.00 notes and who dont put in their tax returns anyway.

A lot of the guys at work have all received a noticed asking them to make sure last years return is correct, and adjust if necessary to avoid any penalties.
Fitters and sparkies. Dont know if its trade specific or just us dodgy wharfies!

Just like rich people (crooks), you just need to find a good accountant that knows the system.

I average around $2k per refund. And I have receipts for everything, and some not. But I don't have to worry about ever being audited.

You just need to find a good tax specialist. Not those guys that set up shop in the shopping centres for your $99 tax refund.

OH YEAH, I am too.... ha ha ha.

the last 2 weeks I've been busier than when I was working.  ???

Off to Lloyds this morning with the Mini..... after 7 years in Tin Can Bay, I am not looking forward to Brisbane's Monday traffic, especially with a classic Mini on a car trailer.
I might take a few valium, a Viagra and a sleeper before I go.
The valium will calm me, the Viagra will give me something to do when i'm stationary (can't use a phone then) and the sleeper means I won't miss my afternoon "retirees nap".

Drove back from the airport last night following a car with only the daylight running lights on. Tried to get his attention but no luck.

Speaking from experience with the Jeep and Triton, I will say that LED DRLs can actually pretty bright and when driving on a well lit motorway it can seem like the main headlights are on.

A lot of dashes light up whether the headlights are on or off so nothing inside gives it away except for the lights symbol 🔆

I'm sick of the builder using my property as a rubbish tip. Yesterday I dug up the nature strip to expose the storm water pipe. Found several bits of broken bricks, bits of concrete, metal strapping from the pallet various bits of plastic and a "single use" plastic bag (still hasnt broken down after about 30 years)
All that in a narrow 1 foot deep six foot long trench.

Ever time I dig holes on my property I keep finding crap has been buried. Bricks, bottles, piles of plastic flower pots, plastic bags have been behind retaining walls

That's a big thing around the Toowoomba area. We get a lot of fog and the amount of people that don't have their lights on, and another, the amount of cars with only a single head light working. They look like a motorbike at a distance.

We recently built a new house our site looked like a dump, the tradies would have their lunch and throw their discards all over the block instead of in the actual dedicated rubbish area. One day we went for an inspection and the painters were in there smoking cigarettes, there were discarded butts all throughout the house. Some people are just grubs

My misses picked up the mess our grub of a chippy left after every lunch break and piled up his discards on his esky.
After a few days with his tuna cans, coke cans and grad wrap sitting on top of his lunchbox he got the message and stopped throwing his crap all over the yard.
The rest of the crew where pretty good (apart from the usual sparky clippings everywhere).

I did have a win when doing a massive cleanup along the side of the house after the builders had left.
Towards the end of the build we had a few days of good rain that washed a bit of soil from the the cut bank beside the house. Buried under the mud was all of the plastic bags from the insulation bats, under that was half a dozen full lengths 12mm threaded rod and a couple of rolls of metal strapping from bracing the trusses.
Those have both come in handy a few times over the years.

When I was younger I worked as a construction labourer for a few years. For a while I worked with a large individual who had done 20 years in the army and loved learning and teaching how to hurt people with your hands. He would go around the site after lunch and find any lunch scraps left lying around and put them back inside the eskies of their owners. Nobody had the balls to raise an issue about it so pretty soon people started cleaning up after themselves.

Gas Bonnet Rams..... who was the idiot that came up with that idea.  >:(

Put the bonnet up yesterday on the Falcon ute, then crouched down to suss out the slightly loose catch.
Friggin thing slammed me in the back of the head from full height. (the bonnet has never come back down before)

I dropped the 2 big ones (F & C), loudly, no, really loudly.

I reckon, folks in the blue mountains (Apply named) would have heard.....

"OH YOU F*^#ING C*^T" as clear as a bell, as it echoed through he mountains..... UNT... UNT... UNT.
The builders working on the new place just up the road downed tools and turned off their radio.

So, who was the dipstick that decided to remove the old spring hinges, bonnet rods etc off cars to have these useless friggin gas rams that leak, fail and need to be replaced at regular intervals.

I'd love to have a chat with him once my headache goes away.
