How come I can now only see a very small portion of the Forum?
The permissions of the various boards have been changed so that only logged in Members of Myswag.org can see them.  This is to protect the privacy of our Members as many of you have disclosed details and photos of cars, camper trailers, sheds etc.  If you would like access to the whole of Myswag.org please a) become a Members of this wonderful Forum or b) log in if you are an existing Member  ;D

No problem with this but just wondering if there has been an incident or something that has sparked ths change after so long with the forum being open to all.

We have a small forum that runs on SMF software and we also restrict non members access.

However we have made it so guests' can see all the forums categories and titles (so they can see what they are missing out on by not being a member) but when they go to access a topic it prompts them to either sign up or log in. This method still protects the content but allows them to see whats available.

I noticed you guys have simply denied guests the option of even seeing what they are missing out on. Which is probably fine when your a massively famous forum as Myswag is, but for us, who is still growing rapidly the other option works better for us.
Just some useless info I guess  ;D

while discussing forum mods............I am an admin on another forum, and we have a handy mod installed that lets you open all pages in a thread, so when you click on a new thread its one continuous read, makes it so much easier to get through a thread with lots of contributions that might be 10 pages long.

Just a thought, if you are interested I will get the name for you guys :)

You can achieve a similar result on SMF forums (I am the administrator for another SMF forum I setup just over 9 years ago) by clicking on the 'Print' button at the top of the page - only drawback on this forum is that it is text only (I have a mod installed on my SMF forum that provides the option to also display the images).
