lego. little help needed
« on: January 27, 2016, 02:00:04 PM »
i found this old piece of lego in an old storage box
its from an old lego city train set that was motorised and use to run on blue track that had to be assembled
at a guess i would say its from the 1980s

has someone else got one or know anything about it .
the motor stopped working in the 1990s and being a very inquizitive kid i pulled it all apart,
but now (26 years later) cannot remember how to put it back together.
boy wonder has seen it and asked can it be fixed, as we still have the track and trailers that it come with.

the part i pulled apart was the gear box inside the train
i will get a pic of that tonight

I had the very same set.. I've still got the motor somewhere, not sure about the control box. No leads, it still worked last time I remember, but that was close to 26 years ago. SInce then its been stored in a box for 24 years, and sent through the international postal system....

It is possible to down load every instruction book for every lego item sold. Also, there is an ebay of sorts for lego where you give notice of a part your looking for, and then it lets you know if someone has it for sale.
I don't have links handy now, but I am married to a woman who is can easily play the part of president business in the film.
Don't mess with her Lego....
She has been collecting the bits to remake original set, including my old stuff.
I'll try to get the links from her, I'm away at work now.
I guess if you google it, you'll find it easy enough.

I have the same motor, was for train set and also could make a bulldozer with tracks.

Had a quick check - I don't think its the 9v set. Wasn't it the 4.5V set?  And it was more the 70's than 80's..

Here is a useful site to get individual bits from, my other half has used it a lot to put some old star wars stuff back together. Also instructions can be found here.

Or stamped 'Made in Germany'

Mine didn't last long as a train. It was quickly stripped to become a tank/ bulldozer- Lego Metal axle wheels, take the rubber off, fit tank track...
