Your online quote has come back cheaper than my current Affinity insurance.

A couple of questions:
- do you offer choice of repairer?
- do you offer windscreen cover?
- do you offer NCB protection
- do you offer hire car for accident not just theft?
- can the $2000 personal effects cover include bikes if they're being carried in the vehicle?
I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go…

I emailed thru my renewal notice from Affinity, which had all the vehicle details and options. Asked for a quote based on that info. Got a email back saying can only provide quote over the phone, I don't want to waste time going over all the details that are in the email.

Not an employee but most of this is in the PDS:

- do you offer choice of repairer? Yes provided the repairers quote is competitive and the job will be thorough
- do you offer windscreen cover? Additional Extra which can be purchased
- do you offer NCB protection - This was from a response on another forum: "At Club 4X4 we don’t calculate premiums using a rating – we don’t even ask for that information. We instead use the number of years that you have had a licence and your claims experience in the last 5 years. So to put it simply; no we do not offer a rating protection at this stage as we rate each individual policy using the fore mentioned information relating to licence and motor vehicle claims history."
- do you offer hire car for accident not just theft?- This is an additional extra
- can the $2000 personal effects cover include bikes if they're being carried in the vehicle? I believe they do, but not whilst they are being used. They also limit it to a max of $1000 per individual item.

TK 421 - want a job? :-)

Thanks so much your answers are spot on.

Regarding the contents coverage, please take the time to read through the PDS for the exclusions. It's very hard to provide thoughts in this sort of situation and on the internet. Each person will have their own needs so take the time to familiarise yourself with the conditions of that policy.

Cheers!

Morning Kevin,

Sorry that we couldn't do things the way you wanted it done.

I know that some of the brokerages that do "specialist" 4x4 insurance work based on forms etc. We have a complete end to end online web quoting system as well as an Australian based call centre to run you through the quote process.

Unfortunately the questions that we ask are different and more detailed than others, much like the coverage that we offer I guess.

If you like, I am happy to get someone to give you a call at your convenience - just send me your contact details and a time you want to be contacted and i will arrange it for you.

Cheers

Morning Everyone.

I wanted to share with you all a news update. Today we issued a New Supplementary PDS (SPDS) which amongst other slight adjustments, makes some significant changes to our Off-Road Recovery Cover benefit.

Following feedback from, and work-shopping with customers we have relaunched the benefit with much clearer wording and extension of where we will cover you to. The feedback we had received was that the product only covered out to a gazetted track, which was limiting and left a gap between this and the traditional roadside assistance coverages many of us have. There have been pricing and excess adjustments to suit the extension of coverage and this is all detailed in the link to our press release http://www.club4x4.com.au/news-supplementary-product-disclosure-statement-effective-april-1/
We are very pleased that we have again been able to adjust our coverage based on feedback from our customers.

Thanks everyone and Happy Touring.

Hi Kalen,

tried an online quote yesterday.  At the end it provided some premium breakdown for the 'extra benefits' however it did not allow me to delete these benefits and hence reduce the premium?

Are they automatically included (didn't read the PDS to be honest)?  If so why display the premium breakdown?

Cheers

G'day Hempo,

The basic product includes $1500 of off-road recovery cover and $2000 of personal effects cover. These cannot be removed and form part of our basic coverage.

Sorry about that.

I recently got a very competitive quote from you. During the quote process, I did not see anywhere that I could increase the off-road vehicle retrieval cost. I would like to have a higher than $1500 recovery for an upcoming trip.

Gday Pinarelloman

If you were doing itt online, after you get the prize, you click "buy now" and then the various policy options would've come up.

otherwise please give us a yell on 1800 CLUB 4X4 (258 249) and one of the sales team will be able to sort you out.

I am looking to update/change the insurance on the Prado as it is not a daily driver anymore. I am currently with the Affinity 4wd insurance, got a quote from Club4x4 and it is much cheaper with more inclusions. It is all good until you need it so I am looking for feedback on people who have actually had to make a claim and/or used their Club 4x4 insurance.

G'day D4. I took out club 4x4 on the new NX for a few reasons. The fact they were cheapest by a long mile helped in that regard. With a looming CSR trip, I also took out 15K off road recovery insurance just in case. I haven't had to use them yet, however my mate on the trip did. Doing a windscreen out of Newman, he found someone to replace it on a Sunday and paid cash. On the Monday, he rang club, told them the bill, and funds to cover his outlay were in his account by the end of the week. Simple and painless.  :cup:

G'day D4D,

You're right, it's not worth the paper it's written on unless we come good on our promises.

Here's an example of a client who had a claim that took the time in to write a testimonial on his experience.

ummm just the wheelset on my current bicycle is worth than that. (not counting a) the rest of my bike and b) my wife's bike)

also, most large camp fridges would be more than $1,000.

G'day Murucycles,

Your best bet to insure such a piece of equipment is a specialist bike insurer like Velosure.

Just remember if you have a diesel engine Shannon's do not cover (or did not cover) for contaminated fuel and for modern diesels that is very important.  Kevin

My bikes are insured under a separate bike policy via my cycling Australia membership   :)  (http://membership.cycling.org.au/Insurance/Bike)
My fridge is covered under the Additional Australia wide personal effects cover on  the policy which allows you to have items over $1000 in value covered as long as they are listed

"This optional extra extends the cover provided under the Additional benefit ‘Australia wide personal effects cover’. The increased limit that you have selected will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance. Any individual items valued over $1,000 must be specified and will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance in order to be covered."
