I last spoke to him in September.
He said he was doing ok but could be better.

I hope he is ok.
The dream - to travel like a snail with my home behind me, seeing every inch of Australia.

Hey all,

Truly sorry for digging up a very old post but just thought I would let everyone know that I've since sold the house, sold a lot of items that had memories that I thought it was best to let go of and I've found myself a lovely lady.

So I want to thank each and everyone of you for sticking by a stranger and getting me through the tough times.

Not once have I forgotten about this close knitted family. I will try my best to become active again.

My inbox is always open if anyone wants to chat.

Along with the Heart Attack thread, this one is just as harsh for many to admit or deal with..

Both should be Sticky threads and scrap many of the outdated crap stickys that are there now.

Hey All,
Not once did I think that when I first started this thread that it would still be going 6 years later.

It's honestly a bit of a shock that it's still going along with people thinking that it's worthy of being a "sticky" whatever that may be......haha

I may not be as active as I used to be and in honesty it's hard to find that same passion for camping again that I once had.

I'm definitely open to idea's.

As for those suffering depression, please understand you're NEVER alone. Each and everyone of us are here for you.

Anyone is more than welcome to PM me if you want to talk, I'll happily call you or vice versa

I will be upfront, I have been suffering with depression for the last 12 months.

At one stage fast tracking a will and writing a suicide note and planned the day and time. Thankfully I am still here.

The last 12 months, with the job we do,  has been hard plus other personal issues.

I try and keep it under control and have good and bad days. I am not on any medication or have seen anyone. I mostly keep it bottled up and deal with it. I know it will eventually get to me down the track.

McGirr, you have made the first step by acknowledging your depression, take the chance now to seek professional help , I know this could be difficult with your time in remote locations but please give it a go.
All the best to you.

If you dont want to seek professional help, that I completely understand due to various reasons but please send me a private message if you want to talk privately.

I'll happily give you a call as talking definitely helps.

As a bloke who has been through a tough time, I found bottling things up might seem like the best scenario at the time however as you said it will come back when you least expect it.

McGirr........it will only get you down the track if you don't talk to somebody about it.
Professional help is only a phone call away. You don't have to see anyone....just talk over the phone.
I had a serious illness last year, and at times I felt pretty low...real low...but I have a wife who I could talk to.
Have you told or talked to your partner ? Have you told her how you REALLY felt ?
I know a couple of people with depression and medication was VERY helpful.
You've "come out", so to speak......keep going and make yourself better.......good luck with it all !!
