Winner Winner!! Cape York Motorbike Trip
« on: July 31, 2014, 07:16:26 PM »
Well, I generally enter competitions with the expectation that I won't win, and that my details will be on-sold or used to send unwanted emails etc etc.

BUT, today that all changed, when at 4:30pm I received a phone call that I had won a competition that I entered a few weeks ago.

I have won a trip worth $5,500 with Daryl Beattie Adventure Tours from Cairns to the Tip of Cape York! They are covering flights, bike, everything (except alcohol)!

I am so excited, I don't generally win anything!

Now I have to prepare - loose a few kgs, get some bike practice in and organise time off work.

Mate let me know when you hit Cairns, would be great to catch up. Lock you in a cupboard and take your place. I can't ride but happy to head back up to the Cape.

When is the trip.

Excellent stuff, good for you ol' mate!!! Fair dinkum, that is a great prize, seriously great prize, it's one of those things a lot of blokes probably wish they could do, but as always there is some other priority... and the fact you've won it, so therefore "have to do it" is priceless......... Oh and you might change ur name to Poga sore ass!!  ;D

Thanks Guys,

You are right, it is a trip I have been wanting to do on the bike for the last 3 x years. It is also a trip that my wife Bec, would never allow, unless I win it or we win lotto. Too many other priorities with a young family.

Lucky for me! :cup: :cup: :cup:

Bike Shorts are the 1st thing to get packed on any bike trip!

The Cape is a place I want to see, but at the other end of the country, it is a big effort to get there, especially with such young kids. I saw the photos from the recent Myswag Cape Trip, and was very jealous, and it made me want to get up there in the next few years. At least this way, I get to taste the cape, and begin to convince Bec that we should all go up there as a family.

Yes I do, I have a Go Pro 3+ Black. But to be honest, it gives me the sh!ts when riding as battery life is poor, and it is another thing I have to worry about.

Having said that, I will take it, buy some additional batteries and try to get a bit of footage.

You'll have to get her keen for doing the family trip next year Pog. At this stage that is our plan.
Nice win too.

Congratulations mate, it is magic country up there, you are going to love it.

I made the trip in 1985 with my brother, carrying all our gear on old XL500's and had a ball. Did it again in 1995, this time on XR600's, with my sister and brother-in-law tagging along in a 4x4 carrying our gear and it was even better.

Did the trip in a 4x4 in 1992 and loved it but not as much as when on the bikes.

Only advise I can give is to get very ride fit before you go, we saw a lot of guys struggling with fitness up there.

Sound like a good trip, but based on the jealousy shown here, why not raffle the prize off?
Sell 100 tickets at $100 each, and use half the profit to buy a replacement trip.
This way you come out with the same trip, a healthy profit and you get to keep friends with everyone who seems to hate you now for winning.
Have fun and don't do what actors are told............. that is "break a leg".
