I've been in the shed rearranging the piles of crap, repairing the RTT (broken zipper) and re-configuring the ute to be a camper again so I can get away for the 1st time in around a year.

Wombeyan Caves to Jenolan Caves this weekend, anyone want to come along?

Hopefully there won't be any fires.

6 months ago, I would not of worked Saturdays,
The Christmas rush is well and truly kicked in.
This is the 7th Saturday I've worked.
Why do people leave wanting stuff done until it is the hottest time of year  ??? ??? ???
Anyway, Off to the shed to sharpen chisels and sort stuff( while )for next week, so I can do SFA tomorrow.

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)

Yeah, lets hope you are.
BTW, why are there so few Tradies these days?
I'm trying to farm work out, but there isn't anyone who is not flat out.
I have 2 sub contractors that I can get to do work, but they are picking up more work and struggle to keep up.
Hmmmm
Anyway, hope your beer is cold this arvo.
Cheers

because for the the last 20 years kids have been taught that they can go to Uni and then be a corporate CEO by the time they're 21  >:D

Kids these days believe manual work/trades are beneath them  ??? (generalization I know, but I recon there are more unemployed graduates than laborers?)

Agree,
Some are carreer students.
They've been going to uni for the last twenty years and still don't hold a job, one degree after tbe next.
The Grafton TAFE, 1997 was the last year it held apprentice carpenters, the Tafe got more funding for teaching 30 year old unemoyed to make clay ashtrays.
The 35 old years I have work in and around the cottage industry, I am still mates with a lot of the people who I knew when I first left school.
Then there are the young tradies that are in their early 20's who are all tooled up, new 4x4 utes, 10K trailers and they knock off work at 2pm every day. Sheeesh.

In this there is some discussion about how trade work is viewed as well as about the Uni verses vocational learning. I found the video very interesting.

Nobody wants to give kids a go. There is little incentive to hire apprentices.

Add to that, my mate has a mechanical workshop, he has had 4-6 apprentices through there, and most are brain dead... stand there on their phones on stalkerbook, never asking questions or ask to be shown how to do things.. he then found 1 gem in the pack, but the kid lived too far away, wasnt an issue while his dad worked close by, he lasted 6 odd months then his dad changed jobs and he couldnt get there as he didnt have a license.

A bit to do with Training Organisations too. A lot of private RTO's are there just to collect the sign on $$$s. Once that happens the training virtually stops and they get signed off they have done the training but we all know that is a lot of crock. We see it all the time as I work in a TAFE institute where we have to pick up these poor kids who have been ripped off in the system.

Yea found out that lots of job agencies that advertise on Seek are only interested in people on the dole or other payments as they get some sort of kickback for hiring them...

Cammo is 19, and apparently doesnt meet requirements these days for any form of payment until hes 23 as "we earn too much" and apparently we are supposed to support him.. I thought kids were adults and on their own at 18...  he should go to byron bay and smoke cones and surf every day instead of looking for work, Gov co would throw millions at him

Finishing the last of four car door self tours at Lightning Ridge. Some interesting stuff, most looking like a junk yard!
