I bought the Blackvue 650 with front and rear camera. Installed myself and records 24/7. When in parking mode, the led is off, but camera still recording. Anyone with bad intentions will have their pic given to the boys in blue.

The first things is to NOT get a 64 or 32 gb card, it don't work, I'm using a 8 gb at the min and it works well. It can record to the 32 gb card, but on each start up the card needs to be removed and put back in.
No idea why.
The image is OK, the 135 deg lens would be better if more angle to it.
Having troubles getting it to remember the time - date I set, all my other setting changes stayed on 1st try, but not the date. Fault could be a ID 10 T type most likely...  ;D still trying to figure it out.
Here is a short film from it, my 1st to youtube. You'll notice it took a bit to get the gps up.

I had one of those mini 8*** (forget what model number) and the thing overheated several times up north. After a fair amount of research I have since changed over to a Street Guardian. It comes with everything you need, even the correct SD card. It hasn't missed at beat and the images are great.

I'm looking to get a dashcam for my vehicle however wanting to find a few particular features. I want dual HD recording as I'm sick of people tapping the rear bar of my dual cab ute and just driving off. Problem being for a dual cab ute with a canopy, i'm thinking I need the rear camera to be exterior not interior. Does anyone know if there is something like this available?

Does your canopy have a window, if it does you don't need an exterior camera. They usually come with 5m coax to connect the two. Otherwise just get two cams. One for the front and one for the back. You don't really need an all in one unit, You'll just have to line up the footage if you need the evidence.

The all in one units like the blackvue 650 2ch are HD front (1080p) and rear (720) https://dashcamsaustralia.com.au/shop/dashcams/blackvue/blackvue-dr650gw-2ch/

This blackvue has the external rear camera mount:  http://www.autoblackbox.com.au/blackvue-dash-cams/blackvue-dr650s-2ch-truck/

Well folks, I got a rather pathetic answer for why the 64 gb cards don't work.
But I get the feeling it may work if the recording is at a low file size type recording.
Anyway,
I'd recomend you give the Kings Dash Cam a BIG MISS

Thanks for those links. The canopy does have a back window however the glass is pretty darkly tinted and is often loaded fully and/or with odd loads such that I was worried about the cam being knocked off the back window and damaged. Will look into those options you linked.

The Kings camera is a rebadged Mini08xx.
I am running a mini0803 and it works good.
Only issue is that it doesn't always loop.

Yep, memory limits, and the ridicules answer I got from the so called support folk in the email.
Keep in mind, I am a bit of a grumpy old man, here in my world, things work as they are advertised.
As far as I am concerned, if I bought a fridge which is made for 8 beers, I can cool 8 beers, not 1 beer at a time.
With my grumpy ol man hat firmly in place, I am having trouble excepting that the 64 gb card wont work as advertised, but the 8 will.

Still waiting for a reply to my email, if not of any help, I'll take it back for refund when I pick up the 2 x swags I got for a $113 each.

Did it work with a card bigger then 8 gb? If so, which type of card?

I got given a Kings for fathers day and connected it last week. Running 32 gig Scandisc ultra card.
Have to be honest, I wasnt expecting it to be very good, but I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the video. Easy to read number plates and one night trip through the tunnel was also very good except for number plates on white cars.

We have a BlackVue 550 twin fitted to both cars. Only fitted the one to the wife's car back in March 17.
Here's what happened.
She goes to a local library to meet a client, car is parked in the under ground parking area below the library.
She returns to the car 1.5 hrs later and there is green slimy Shit on the bonnet and windscreen. She reports it to security and they witness it , take photos etc. By now the paint is beginning to peel off.
She comes home and I get the 64gb memory card out and download the footage. Also call and advise our insurance and pay the excess which will be refunded if the criminal can be identified.

When I view the footage, I have perfect footage of this c..t pouring paint stripper on the bonnet. He looks straight at the camera, without knowing he was being recorded in 1080p. The rear camera caught him driving his late model Mercedes into the car park. I have all lights on the camera set to off, so he had no idea he was being recorded.

The matter occurred on the 24 April and did several other cars. The cops have the video and are investigating.

Hopefully hear today what we are up to. Would love to see the look on his face when they show him the video!
