Hi KB,

It allows you to select the boost you want in the range of .2V - 1V approximately in .2 volt steps, lets you fine tune your charge voltage to your requirements,
have been testing it for awhile now and I won't go back to the fixed type.

Hi Leigh
I have a 2008 Patrol with a Traxide dual battery system.  Is the Mk 4 appropriate for me?
Cheers

Hi Alan,

You can use the MK4 on your model if required if it still has the OEM alternator. If the alternator has been
replaced check that the replacement is using the original external voltage sensing circuit by removing the
ALT-S fuse and checking the charge light does not go out when the motor is started.

Hi Leigh
Could you please give me a short version answer to the advantages of the 3 types, I'm afraid I don't understand this stuff.  I am willing to spend $120 if it is a major advantage but would love to get away with $35  ???

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.

Sure,

MK1 contains a conventional fuse, if a fault should occur in the vehicles wiring or alternator and excessive current flows in the circuit the fuse will rupture, this means when the fault is rectified the booster will need to be replaced same as a conventional fuse.

MK3 contains an electronic fuse, it will trip and protect the circuit if a fault occurs, when fault is rectified it resets and does not need to be replaced.

MK2 is the micro blade version of the MK3.

MK4 has same features of the MK3 plus it is user adjustable, it can be adjusted to give approximately .2V-1V in .2V steps. This is handy for those that wish to fine tune their system to match their batteries and optimise charge rates.

You have a mark3? ....... must have missed that. Had mine for around 6 years so I’m guessing it’d be one of the originals?
If so I might have to grab another as it’s always concerned me if it was too pop while on a big trip where peak charging is necessary ( obviously I’d just stick a standard back in to get by )

MK3 is a good choice, non fusing so I a basically guaranteed all my units for life apart from the MK1 which is designed to fuse out. Don't know anyone else that guarantees similar for life:)
