I can never understand people who bid hard on an item when it's got 6 days etc to go.  ??? Not too sharp some floks  ;D

I picked up a pair of Lightforce XGT HID's a couple of days ago for under $400, some of the other bidders had started biding 5 days earlier....................it's all in the timing  ;)

I usually only purchase buy it now items, because let's face it, nearly everything on eBay is buy it now. But when I bid, I use sniping servers, set up my bid, then check if I've won after the auction is over. This enforces a bit of discipline for me insomuch that I don't sit there watching the bidding war, panic and increase my bid.

Sniping gives you a little bit of an edge. It places your bid in the last ten seconds of the auction

Agree 19283429307459823745%.
People cant grasp the concept that you only have to be infront at the end..
All that bidding 8 days from the end does is up the price, which 1/2 the time is the seller or his mates.

Not reallly.  If your smart about it, and bid once with the max price your willing to pay you either win, or win.

you can do that yourself. I always go last 5 seconds.

I like sniping. Don't even mark the item  on your watch list.

I use Justsnipe, used to allow one to bid in the last 5 sec but I think has gone out to 8 sec for the free account.

Reminds me of a train from the wild west days.......
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Isn't that just responding to the automatic bids? Looks like two guys going hammer and tongs.

Looking at the timing of them, its a clown sitting there bidding away manually..
Its just stupid.. does nothing apart from up the price.

My roof racks. That I paid $270 for in 2010. That I had buy it now for $130. That I advertised on This forum for $150ono (would have taken $100). Just sold for $268**. And 40mins later (just now) were collected and paid for. Guy wanted to use them this long weekend and were just right (last min $100 bidding war). Easier than buying new for the same money. I guess?? Crazy!  Time to list more stuff I think! :)

**unleas you are from the tax department. I just made a $57 loss
