Missus has been at me to get an e-bike like hers to join her sojourns but I decided better not as I'd probably ride it furiously or recklessly and I've got a reputation and standing in the community to consider-

There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

A couple of weeks ago my chain decided to jump in a BIG way and destroyed my chain guide.

So I got a sexy new carbon cSixx one. Nice huh:

Been on my bike again for a week.
Not too bad, but speed is far gone.

Was discussing the NSW stats on this mornings ride as a car passed us well within a mtr in front of the police booking cyclists speeding down Mt Cootha.... 3 cyclists booked for riding furiously ... what the hell is that??

I'm vacillating between riding furiously or recklessly. Perhaps you could get booked for both?

You'd better be even more careful. Those fines have gone up to ludicrous levels. $425 for furious riding. $425 for no helmet for example.

I still have it, its a great bike and at its time was leaps ahead of most with the Magura brakes. It was a little sketchy at 70km/h down Thredbo at times though

This colour scheme or the red before it?

I've still got the sticker kit to do it to a full team replica - it's currently running a pannier rack for commuting. I've owned it since 1998 (when it was new) and it's still running a decent chunk of the original components!

That's from 3 years ago - still has an IRC gumwall on the front (for now), but has a skinny blackwall on the back now... BUT it does look good with gumwalls.

I had these guys come to my house today and fit some new parts, fix my forks and generally clean/grease/tune my bike. Great service and reasonable cost, considering they had a 1.5 hour round trip. http://www.therapidwrench.melbourne/

Not my bike, but a cross post from the "What made you smile thread", and as this is the bike thread I thought it would get the most people.

This made me smile at the beginning... nearly in tears by the end...
Martyn Ashton rides the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike track at Fort William, Scotland

I met Martyn in the 1990's a couple of times; he's a really down to earth bloke and was a real pioneer in terms of trials displays.

For those who don't know him, he came off his bike during a display in 2013 and broke his back between T9 and T10

The first video that he released recently was Road Bike Party ; that gives you an idea as to what he was like as a rider. As he was working on Road Bike Party 2 he had his off, and last year he did another film with a bit of help from his mates. (The grin on his face at the end of this video is awesome!)

edit: I missed the last paragraph... oops

D4D

Yeah Martyn is a legend, many people would have chucked it in, good to see tech helping him get back on two wheels.

Danny MacAskill is a pisser cameo in it too

Had my bike serviced last week.
It gave me a big dent in my wallet: complete drivetrain renewed.
