When you see a good idea, pinch it!! Found an old jerry can on hard rubbish and used it to make the "Jerry Bin"!!
Thanks to kit-e-kat and chippy76 for the inspiration.

G'day hargs, it's actually pinch weld around the edges. I got it from Clark Rubber, who have heaps of different sizes and profiles. Can't remember the cost but it's pretty cheap and sold by the meter. Great for covering exposed metal edges.
The Jerry Bin works a great. Takes a 20L garbage bag and keeps out roaming animals. Light and easy to carry. I might have to do another one now for recyclables.....

Excellent job there brickiematt!!  I think you need another for recyclables ... gotta be environmentally responsible.

I did my lids going the "other way" so that I could open them easily ... otherwise the camper got in the way  ;D  They work brilliantly.

I used a bit of metal on my lids (near the latch) to keep them square when closed, and line them with 25ltr bin bags now as the shopping bags don't hold up well under pressure.  Drilled some holes in the bases, so water isn't an issue when it's raining and so my wet ropes and pegs can drain.  Keeping the wildlife out of my rubbish is a priority (don't want the little things to kark it or get sick) ... now just have to work out how I can stop brazen possums licking my BBQ plate!!!!   :o

DB's idea is one of the best!  Best stolen!   ;D  Good to see that everyone's are just that little bit different as well.  Sounds like there is a market out there for these ... DB ... I think you'd be on a winner if you made these for sale.

Thanks Kit_e. Indeed, one for recyclables is needed, as my recyclable pile seems to grow a bit quicker than the rubbish ;D ;D ;D
Love the idea of using it as a type of wet locker as well. May have to find a plastic one for that though!!

Man, these things are spreading like cane toads

Meanwhile, we need to get a new rear wheel bag, as somewhere between home and Mambray Creek it disappeared  ???  Hopefully there is a supercrap auto in Alice Springs (our old one was one of Danbri's and it was excellent quality).

Does anyone else have trouble fitting the Ridge Ryder bag over their spare? My Prado has a standard size spare & it only just fits. I'm about to get new tyres (including the spare). If I get Coopers or BFG's there's no way I'll fit the bag on.

safarican

We use Safari Cans for general storage, they fit in jerry can holders and have a large opening lid to water carrying, for showering, taking dirty clothes home from camping and as a goanna and possum proof garbage bin.Camped at Bendethera for a week at christmas and one goanna thought he had to check out our camp every day for food scraps.

How many threads can you plug your product in, doing a good job so far. I think I've read four this morning

Yeah perhaps "We sell" rather than "We use"?  Better to be up front about it... Good product though.

I'm not so good with advice... can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

Muckinhell

I like the idea of the safari can/ old jerry can as you could also fill em with ice and drinks for the trip there on ya shorter trips then transfer into a garbage recepticle once the drinks and ice are finished with so iliminates extra esky issue and carrying it somehow and less opening closing fridge in the process.
