Budgeting for the Trip
« on: February 03, 2012, 05:00:16 PM »
As alot of members are coming from south so I will work on a budget from Cairns.

Fuel: Depending on your vehicle and whether it is diesel or petrol, allow 6 to 7 fuel top ups travelling up and back.

Accommodation: allow paying at Lions Den, Archer River and Seisia huts. Approx depending with / without kids, $250 to $300.

Food: I take alot of non re-fridgerated food and fruit. Regarding meat etc I carry enough to get me there as I top up at Seisia supermarket or the abattoir.  Factor in food to be a little expensive up there, but there are similiar prices as down here as last trip a cooked chook was only $12.00

Beer: This will break all budgets. Buy and carry as much as possible before you leave Cairns. If you have to put the kids on the roof racks. A case of 30 x XXXX Gold Cans was $60.00 last year.
