I had $35,000 to spend on a 4x4,   I could have bought new 4x4's easily for that but I bought a 9 Year old HDJ80 with 75,000km's on it.. That was 11 years ago and I have no desire to sell it...

Thanks for all the replies guys (and gals), Sorry I should have posted also that I'm not quite ready to jump in on a camper just yet. Still sorting out finances a bit etc. Just starting to do my homework as it were. I certainly havent ruled out 2nd hand but as i said I am really leaning towards a hard floor camper so agaion - anyone who has experience with a cheapy one of those would love to hear from as well.

Pipeliner - The recent change in marital status I thought was fairly obvious - my wife and I have split up.

Mark, cheap hard floors are like cheap Porsches; really old. They may still be fantastic, but age takes it's toll on everything.

Don't feel like you need a camper to get involved, tents are more than welcome around the fire, and your kids will have a great time too. Check out the Clarencetown trip coming up.

Plus a good trip with a meet like Clarencetoen will give you a hands on opportunity to chat with all the owners and see the setup and pack ups if you get there early enough, you can't get a better research hance if you ask me. If learnt a lot frm myswag, but probably even more getting out with everyone.
