I am in the process of getting my trailer sandblasted and am wondering if you are meant to sika flex the gaps before or after the primer is done (between being blasted and primed or between primer and top coats).
i have never used sikaflex before so i am a bit confused .

I did mine before.
Dont know if it is right or wrong but after 2 years it still looks good...

cheers fellas ,  someone said that kill rust paint doesn't like to stick to sika flex is that correct if so what paint is the best for painting the top coats on the trailer with.

Be very careful what you use - Some sealants attract moisture causing endless amounts of problems.

Have you considered hot dip galv. I towed mine up to Townsville under permit. I reakon its great, no paint chipping to worry about, especially were we live. Cost me $800 back in 08 but it goes on the weight of trailer.
Sorry i just had a thought, with you camper build you already have the floor in your trailer. Hot dipping doesnt like large flat areas such as floors. I left my floor out , had it dipped, then Sikaflexed a galv sheet in.

We use a product called Aerobolt at work to seal the gaps on the horse floats, it is applied before going into the booth where the float is primered then 2 pack top coated.  The primer has no issues with the sealer, but I can't speak for enamel based coatings like KillRust, although I would be keen to find out!

Diesel Power : yeah mate i was going to gal dip it but the trailer is going to come in too heavy which = $$$$ @ $3.00 per kg weight of the trailer.

sbadman : i will have  a look at that product and talk to a mate of mine who is going to paint it for me.

I have thought about this too. For the inside, thinking of using a can of etch primer to spray the seams I am going to sikaflex. Then sikaflex all the joints, spray a bit of primer over it, then I can paint it all with white killrust.

Definately, prime first them use the Sika, dont use any silicone based sealant.
