Just wondering if these things would be ok as a recording security camera

mate used them for hunting deer in HCountry, showed me some good day/night footage kicked off by movement sensors... but his were pretty$$$

However, while a dedicated security camera system lets you view a live video feed, most trail cameras generally provide photos and video clips only after they've been recorded.

I used one for a while, caught a shot of a neighbor (a boarder they had) wandering around my yard while I was at work
I printed it and left it in their letter box, never came back 
You just need to put them somewhere they can't be taken
