Carrying a .310 Martini- Henry action single shot rifle as hand luggage on a DC9 flight from Townsville to Cairns in 1966, and no one had the slightest concerns! wouldn't fit in the overhead compartment, so the hostess suggested just laying it on the floor between my feet and under the seat in front.

Just see that happening today!

In boarding school in the 80's it wasn't uncommon for a few of the country boys to nick up to Carl Shult's gun shop at red hill and take rifles home with them at the end of term hols.

I remember flying on the jumbos in the 70s Perth to Bali, can't believe we had a smoking & non smoking area separated by an invisible barrier!!  For some reason the smoking section was also the drinking section.

In summer, playing cricket - Winter up and under footy, in the middle of the road in suburban Blacktown, NSW. Used to do this barefoot on an unsealed road. Gawd we had disgusting feet back then🤮
