Posted an add on gumtree this afternoon and it's started already 

"Thanks for getting back,i'm pleased with the price and the condition as described on the advert,I work on a remote mine site, Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) Darwin NT.We do not have access to phone at the moment and that's why I contacted you with internet messaging facility,Does it have any history I should be aware of and why are you selling?Regarding the payment,i will be paying you through  my westpac bank account,please get back to me with your BSB,Acct name & Number so i can process the payment, I've contacted my courier who will come for pick up and deliver it to my place in Darwin after the whole fund has been cleared into your acct.Await your reply "

 Conversation I had the other day from ad for GU on gumtree. As was on for 1/2hr before this bloke sent his first text



After the last one when I told him how much, never heard from him again. But kept annoying him for a few days after woods.

Yeah there would be plenty of people that don't know about. I was talking about it with some guys at the timber yard the next day and they had never heard of scams like this.

I started to put in my gumtree ad's "Will not respond to emails" & "cash in hand only"
Haven't had a scammer since.

Just respond and let them know they can come and pick it up now, as you are a trusting bloke. Organise a time and give the an address a few doors up. At least you may waste their time and money

With most of these scams they do a dodgy over payment to you and show you account figures from a dodgy website. They then demand and threaten you to repay them the $5000 extra they allegedly put in your account.

The last one of these I had I led down the garden path with emails etc, got the details organised payment and pick up and then my last email to them I included the full email conversation and CC'ed it to Crime Stoppers, funny their phone was disconnected 5 minutes after that and they never replied to another email?

Lady at work was buying from a scammer on gumtree - The old copy an old ebay ad and post it up scam.....

The caravan was from memory something like $55k+ new selling for $15k and 12mths old..
She didn't see anything wrong with it.. she went to bank for a personal loan and all... plans for the first trip were made, then we informed her of the fact it was an old ebay ad that had been copied and we saved her arse...
She never spoke to us again, and left the company few weeks later... stupid slut - no thanks no nothing...

i put this at the end of every advertisment i place and dont get any comebacks, cept one douche who liked to ask why would anyone want to scam me for a $15 4 slice toaster i had listed.

No scammers. Pls be aware i do work in a noisy environment from time to time so if i miss your call ring back shortly or wait till after 430ish. otherwise I WILL NOT EMAIL OR COMMUNICATE OUTSIDE OF GUMTREE EMAILS SO IF YOU TEXT AND WANT ME TO EMAIL SOME OTHER ADDRESS BAD LUCK.

At the most basic level: This person is not contactable. You cannot speak to them.

Would you give any personal details, such as bank details to someone you have not spoken to?
