Smoko Camping Ground
« on: April 10, 2016, 04:47:44 PM »
Hi fellow Swaggers.

Me and some friends are looking at going for a weekend away camping at Smoko Camping Ground roughly 15k's south of Bright.

Just wondering if any other's have been to this camp ground before and if so could you let me know your thoughts and experiences with the area.

Tia

Is a nice and sometimes quiet place. The river has changed course and doesn't flow past the main camping area now. It's further into the trees somewhere, don't know how far back. Can access the river just before the main camping area. Drop toilet but never used it. Fishing is good but need to get in the river and walk it, fly spin or drift bait. There is an area at the old Snowy Creek Rd  bridge, Alpine Rd side of river maybe a 1km past the turn off to Mt Beauty. No toilets, fishing not as good.  Are areas along the fire track that you could get to if you like driving through bushes, people use them, don't think you can camp there but they do.
