Spent a few nights reading the other thread. Thinking of ditching the camper and buying a caravan now. At least a van has solid walls.

Reminds me of the time we were camped at Blencoe Falls. We got there around 5pm and we were the only ones in the whole campground. :D. The kids set their tent up a few metres away from us and went for a quick swim before dinner. David the eldest son comes running back and says "Dad come and look at the biggest foot prints I've ever seen and the biggest dog prints". He was right!!! I've never seen a foot as big as those. It bought a shiver up my back. Up until bedtime the torches got used a lot looking for Bigfoot. ;D
All was good so off to bed we went and slept uninterrupted until David came up to our tent calling out "dad dad quick take a look" out I got and all around our tent, the kids tent were the footprints and dog prints. They had walked up to and around our tents, around the Rodeo and under the Gazebo but nothing was taken. We followed the tracks til they or whatever it was went into the creek.
Took us 15 mins to pack or should I say shove everything in the Rodeo and head home ;D

Yes, we used to have a ghost at our old Army Reserve depot. At this time (70's - 80's), the place was about 90 years old so a lot of people had come & gone in that time.

It had 3 steps leading up to the front door - 1 ground level, 1 mid, top step at floor level. Everybody who walked in, bounced off the 2nd step & thumped onto the floor just inside the door (the inch thick + hardwood floor actually had a hole worn through it, so that had been going on for a long time  :D).

Fairly frequently, but only if you were in a spot that you couldn't see the front door!, you'd hear "thump" then 3 heavy footsteps, obviously wearing Army boots!  :D You'd call out - no answer, have a look - no-one there or in street outside.

There for happy hour one Friday & bloke had his mid-teen son with him, who was to say the least somewhat sceptical about these silly old farts & their stories. We were in the back mess & heard thump, 1, 2, 3 - had a glance through the serving hatch & asked Jason to go out & tell whoever that we were back here. He came back in a minute later with a scared look on his face to say that there was no-one there ...  >:D

There was only one time that I ever experienced bad vibes from him though. I was Mess Secretary at the time & decided to clean all the garbage out of the place - the half boxes of old tiles people had brought in because "the mess can use them", old magazines, plumbing fittings - you know the sort of thing. Anyway, dumped all this stuff, then dragged the fire hose in & gave the place a proper scrub down, cleaning out years of cocky poop, dead spiders & so on. Finished & went into the back mess to have a cold beer & do the reconciliation. Sitting on the couch against the back wall & all of a sudden, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up & I got the feeling that someone is standing behind me, looking over my shoulder & he's not happy. But I was sitting against the wall & because of the slope of the block, anyone looking in the window behind me would have to be 15' tall. So, I sat there in a totally empty room & building & said out loud "No, everything's all right. I'm just getting rid of dirt & rubbish, I'm not trying to get rid of you". Instantly, the bad vibe disappeared & the hairs on the neck went down again ...

Several years later, we moved to a new depot & he visited at least a few times. Couple of people said that they were in their offices when they heard the front door open - call out but no answer & when they go out to check, there's no-one there. Another time, we'd closed up after Friday night drinks, came back in the next morning & the chairs that were against the counter were all over on the other side of the room. I'd locked up last night & unlocked this morning so no-one was there to move things around.

The old depot was moved & is now being used by one of the military historical re-enactment groups. Chatting to one of the blokes only a couple of years ago & asked him if they were looking after the ghost & he said Yes, he still comes to visit - thump, 1, 2, 3

This reminds me a bit of a story / "talk" - a fellow presented to the class many years ago; when we were enrolled in a public speaking course...

This guy gets up and shares the following; rather chilly story:

He is a private in the army..   They all have to do guard duty and patrol..  They all begrudge the night shift patrols (for obvious reasons..)..     He finishes his shift at 2am and goes to handover to the next guy...    This other private is nowhere to be found...    The first guy finds him still laying in bed in the darkness...     Usually when this happens; the person is sound asleep and kind of dead to the world...

Anyway - he shines the torch into the guys face - and he is found "bug eyed"  and totally wide awake...    Very strange; and unexpected he thinks..

A week later - the in-bed guy is found suicided with his brains blown out...    OMG - what WAS he thinking that night a few days earlier??

I had a strange experience one night at home.  I was outside in the back yard about 10pm.  I looked up in the sky and saw what I thought was a bright satellite.  I watched it approach from the north then, it started to slow down and turn towards the east.  Anyone who's ever seen a satellite would know they do not slow down, let alone turn around.  I kept watching it thinking it was a bit bizarre but really wasn't too concerned about it.

What happened next was very weird.

I saw another satellite coming from the north again, this time at very high speed, way faster than anything I'd seen before.  It was heading straight to the first light like it was on an intercept course.  It flew past the first light really close but given they were so high in the air, it was probably miles away.  It continued on a straight course and disappeared to the south.

Meanwhile I watched the first light continue towards the east until it flew below the horizon.

They were definitely not planes, I live near the airport and know what planes look like in the sky.  It was a very clear night and no moon.  Creeped me out a bit...! ???

Years back mid 70's, saw a similar thing off Kingscliff ..
One summer about half hour after dark, Standing with a mate looking out to sea from the beach you could just see a feint horizon line with 5 or 6 trawlers white working lights spread out over 20 or so klicks .. A solid red light [ not flashing, about twice the size of the trawlers lights on the horizon ] came streaking up  from the south [ bout a finger width above the horizon line and way faster than any jets Ive ever seen, ever go past there  ]  keeping a constant height passed several trawlers, stopped for several seconds then came directly towards Kingscliff and passed overhead at very high speed and very high up [ No sound what so ever and seemd to leave a short feint trail of its colour ].. The mate and I just stared at each other and went WTF was that .
We learnt latter on a few others fishing the beach that night that saw it too...

Coming home from work a year ago at 11pm  along the M1 near Morriset, I saw what appeared to be a meteor with a firey trail pass over at what looked like only miles away and then disappear over a hill........it was that big, I thought it had crashed to earth somewhere near Newcastle..

There were other trucks and cars along the M1 that night, and I thought it would be all over the news.......but not one mention ??

Now, did I see it.....or did my mind play games with me ?

Same as ghosts....has anyone seen one, or just hear things and think it must be a ghost ?

The mental hospitals are full of people who think they see things that aren't really there......think about it ??     >:D >:D

I've never seen a ghost but my mum had a great relationship with her mother in law (my grandmother of course).  She used to say to my mum that when she passed away, if there was any way she could communicate with us, she would try.

Anyway a few years after my nan passed away, mum lost one of her favourite rings.  Looked everywhere for it...no joy. She was absolutely devastated but eventually moved on.  Then a couple of years later, mum was thinking about my nan...no particular reason why, she just randomly thought about her.  At that minute mum looked inside a small jewel box on her dresser and there was the ring that been missing....!  You can imagine the hairs on the back on mums neck standing up...!

Mum swears it was my nan fulfilling her promise.  Unfortunately we haven't heard from her since.

I live in a 107 year old house. Moved here a year ago.
Every now and then the kids said someone walked down the hallway, ie they heard footsteps. The mrs and I hadn't had any issues, until a few weeks ago.
Now my kids are young, and I have 3 of them, so invariably one will come into our bed any night of the week. Usually our youngest, the daughter every night.
Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night to see my daughter standing in the doorway, just standing not moving. The doorway is about 1m from my side of the bed, so it's pretty close. it was dark, with the flickering fire behind in the fireplace enough to make out her silhouette.
So I said what's wrong darling, come and hop into bed.
But she just stood there, not moving, not talking. Which is odd.
I said it again, and asked if she was ok, but again she didn't respond. About then, I got that really creepy feeling that something wasn't right. Then she moved her arm up, like she was going to rub sleep out of her eye, or you know when you're tired and you absently run your hands through your hair. And then vanished.
It wasn't my daughter.
It totally freaked me out. My wife woke up while I was talking to whatever it was, and later told me she knew that our daughter wasn't there - but she didn't actually look.
Although freaky, I didn't get a bad feeling about it. Was it a trick of the light or something else? Weird.

Who knows ??   I have seen things in my younger days, and even now I think what I saw was real....but as said, the mind can be a funny thing ??

What you believe you saw....did you actually see it ?? Or did you think you saw it ??  This gets a bit like staring at the sky.....there are a lot of unanswered things out there !!

Years back mid 70's, saw a similar thing off Kingscliff ..

That's interesting.

My Grandma died in 1977. A "couple" of years prior, this evening (but dark, so I guess winter) we were going from Labrador to see her in Southport Hospital, so we were driving South along the inside of the Southport Broadwater.

Mum was driving & I (mid-teens then) was in the passenger seat looking out across the Broadwater & saw what I thought was a boat's red nav light, low (only 1 - 2m) above the water, also heading South (so I now know it couldn't be a port light), but overtaking us (60k)! Said something about he was going fast, Mum said who & I said that boat. Mum pulled up & we got out to have a better look. Just then the light stopped & went backwards, but not like a car braking to a halt over a distance then gradually accelerating in reverse, but more like a cricket ball bouncing back off a brick wall - forward then instantly back.

Went back a K or so I guess, then again instant stop & came forward past where we were standing. Clear night & we could easily see the outline of the Spit in the background but no silhouette against it, just the brilliant red light between us & there, & also in total silence - at least no noise we could hear above traffic. Went forward, back, forward several times, by which time there were 4 - 5 cars stopped with people watching. Light then came to a stop for a brief time (several seconds), then slowly moved vertically straight up a couple of hundred m's, before heading upwards & out to Sea at about 45`angle at incredible speed - picture any sci-fi show with spaceships jumping to warp / light speed - burst of acceleration then virtually instantly gone out of sight.

Everybody there just looked at each other, said What the ? & went about our business. Once again, nothing reported over the next few days so I guess we all decided to just keep our mouths closed about seeing something we couldn't explain.

If anyone is interested Google Tully Saucer Nest and have a read.
We lived about a kilometre away from where they were. Dad went over and had a look at them an hour or so after they were reported and you could walk on them without sinking into the water.
