Beware of thieves!
« on: August 02, 2014, 04:03:54 PM »
Just heard from SWMBO about thieves stealing light bars and driving lights. Bloke lost the lot during the night from his driveway. Tried to steal the plasma rope but I think they forgot to release the clutch. Be wary. This happened northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Thanks for the warning to fellow swaggers, there sure are some low lifes around.  Not camp related but the child care centre I worked in years ago had the office broken into overnight, they threw stuff all around in there and made a general mess thankfully didn't trash the whole place, who targets a place like child care for a robbery or anything?

Some years ago l lived in Armadale in Melb a so called leafy area . Wondered out to go to work & found a mounting bar in the pathway , it used to hold 4 Hella 181 lights . Off to the Cop Shop & stood in line to report the theft . The Bastards had done the whole street many of the cars were outside their flats & houses . Theft to order we were told .

One of my good mates and his neighbour both lost their driving lights Wednesday night while parked in their driveways in Belmont, Geelong.  Pretty crappy that other people think they are more entitled to take your hard earned possessions..  I love the fact that my gear is parked in my garage overnight.

Light bars, or Lightforce type spots are just begging to be liberated...... >:(

When I put my lightbar on the cruiser, I modified the mounting nuts and bolts to make removal a bit harder for any lowlife scum hanging around. I tigged all the nuts to the brackets & than changed all the bolts to button head tamper proof torx. Won't stop them but will slow them down. The spots on the cruiser have their mounting bolts well and truly obstructed by the winch & I bet they give up be fore they undo them. Very little space. The other thing I do is put my cars in the garage every night under lock & key. They can't steal what they can't see.
It's Shitty that we have to account for the low lifes in this world. But at least make it as hard as possible for them.
Cheers, MIke.

Yep- so many opportunists out there with so little ethics.....
My elderly father still on the land in midnorth coast NSW-  he often has temporary electric tape fences to manage cattle when they are calving so its less walking for him- some turkey snipped his electric tape (didn't have the power in it at that time), and flogged his fencing reel- was visible from the main road (and not from the house). It's his 3rd fencing reel loss in as many years...... And cos it's not traceable - and only a couple of hundred worth,  the police wouldn't be interested. Starts to add up though- not to mention the massive inconvenience!!
And seriously, a fencing reel??!!

I put Nyloc nuts on my driving lights so it takes forever to undo but also drilled  holes and put small padlocks through the ends. Good luck getting bolt cutters in there you mongrels.

I literally just converted a pair of IPF 8000's to HID and havent put them on yet as i only have one lock nut, might go the old roll pin measure as well.

Friends of mine have recently travelled from Vic to Cape York and stopped in Sydney on the way home. Not sure of the exact details but they had their Landcruiser and CamperTrailer stolen yesterday. Had to get a hire car to get home
