Was talking to a elderly couple today at our local mcdonalds, he had just spent the night at theodore river free camp and had there push bike stolen off back of their carvan while they were asleep during nite. He had said it was insured but it really get me pi#*ed off that people have to chain and lock everything up these days

Not only free stops either.  My mate lost a brand spanking new and fully stocked esky, taken from the annex while they were asleep at Kirton Point caravan park Port Lincoln.   Not an uncommon occurrence, unfortunately. >:(

I lost about $20k of petrol that I put in mine, it kept going missing..

But at ropers bar I lost, very suspiciously the hitch pin, the big one that stops the hitch from sliding out.

luckily a guy near us used the exact sized round steel as tent pegs, and he had a gennie and angle grinder, I had a drill, and some how got another "R" clip.

later down the track I found someone with a hitch and no camper so I bought his hitch pin off him for $10, bargain.

I cant really blame the rowdy taga long tour idiots that were annoying, cos I vagually remember the "R" clip being crap when I left KNX.

funny how it just suddenly went missing doing a couple of clicks around the camp and to the cafe, and not while I was towing for miles.

I've heard of this happening, and was warned by a local up that way to use a lock padlock instead of the R clip.

I dont think you LOST the pin, I suspect it was deliberatly removed.

Yes and I suspect those noisy tag along loosers.
the leader gave me a weird smile as he left and told his mob (On the UHF, that I had on on my car scanning so I heard him) to give stupid waves etc when they were driving out.

we really hated bus groups, tag along tours, and other big bunch of tourists, they climbed all over rocks, romped around like they owned the place..

There is no way I would ever go on one of those bus groups, there isnt much worse..
I would have liked to been the driver till I heard they also put up the tents, cook the dinner, etc etc.

single vehicle for me in our own private camp site.

Mate of mine did it for years in the 80's ... he did quite well with some of the single felame tourists. But that's what hes done all his life, 70's he did tour buses around Europe for 5-6 yrs.
