Hi guys

I have a Camel Bushman plus, and when I put the annex up it never looks as good as it should, the roof sags a bit.

To fix this I want to get a spreader bar which has clip ends that is at least 360cm long. I see them that are square, and with the ends that poles go into (the holes), but not with the clip ends. I see them with clip ends, but only to 275cm.....

Any ideas?
Cheers

Two separate clip ended poles, with clip only at one end. Insert inner pole into the other end of both and you have an extendable double clip end pole.

Thanks, I guess they'd have to be 2m each.... They don't do them that big... Or have I misunderstood your reply...?

For the center section of the spreader pole you coul give it a slight curve to counter any sag over that distance .. like these  spreader poles in the video .http://shelf3d.com/EV9bHsZDD8s#Aussie Traveller Coolabah Awning

I think Kangaroo Tent City will custom make the poles with the clips you are after. As others have mentioned they will probably be in 2 sections.

Getting a quote done, also tried working with my existing poles but no luck. Will see how exxy the 4m custom pole is and also price up some poles from local camping store to see how  the DIY one goes...

Hi there.
Feel your pain on this one- we have a rear-fold Trackabout- the annexe of which is huge...... and try as we could, we could never get it not to sag somewhere........ so if it rained, we were needing to call in dam-busters!
Our solution was spreader bars, and like you, we found that getting double-ended C-clip spreaders was nigh on impossible- certainly all the standard camping places didn't stock. We discovered that they are all stocked by one of 2 big players anyway.
What we did discover was this mob based in Goulburn, who were so helpful- and have everything you could possibly need in the way of spreaders, tent-poles etc- and they really knew their stuff.   www.supex.com.au
No affiliation, but we appreciated their excellent service, so more than happy to recommend them........ and now our massive annexe is as taut as!! :)

Why not just get a square ridge pole and put c-clips in the ends?  Might need to muck around with some packing/extra glue to get it to fit...

I'm getting 2 made, $33 each for a 4m spreader which I reckon is great value. Poles Apart in Melbourne are making them, the guy I dealt with was so helpful. Camping again in 2 weeks, I'm sure they'll arrive by then so be interesting to see how much easier they make our annex setup!

Poles arrived today and are fab, 25mm thick in the middle section, strong and perfect for us. Excellent service from these guys, Poles Part in Melbourne.

Just for others looking, supapeg do 365cm spreaders with c-clips
http://www.supapeg.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=7_29&products_id=94

But they would no doubt be more than $33 ... probably $50+

Be careful with long c-clip spreaders ... I recently had one fall onto my 7yr old daughter's back while I was mucking around with it (trying to secure it better, actually).  Make sure they are secured.

Xoe01

Yes, need to make sure they are secure!! I was very pleased with the price, expected the quote to probably be double...
