Do you lock your camper?

Just wandering if you lock your camper?

We have never done it, just put away anything of value and zipped up the windows etc.

We now have a Jayco Dove and again leave it all unlocked including the front boot. It really annoys me having to get the keys, unlock it, get what you want, lock it put away the keys, repeat. We have nothing of "value" to steal, all the good stuff is in the car. And they can just open/rip/cut the canvas to get in anyway.

I may have to install remote central locking haha!

What do you do?

Too hard to secure a camper .  ;D

If you have concerns regarding theft install a wireless alarm system. The noise will scare them off.

I have chains for my solar panels and fridge. Only small chains and locks.  That's to stop the honest criminals. If they want it bad enough they will get it regardless.

Don't complain! It could be worse, you could be six foot under or a brick of ashes!!

How do you secure anything  that has a canvas wall/walls.
You can get through a zipper with a ball point pen.
After you do what you want it's just move the slider to seal it up again.
No-ones the wiser, unless you trash the place.

Now a caravan, that's a different story.

All the lockers on my camper are keyed alike. plenty of room to lock away valuables. But as you say, it only keeps away the honest thieves. With the introduction of battery powered angle grinders, I don't think anything is really safe anymore.

Yes we do. I realise the pointlessness of it, but it's a condition of our insurance.

I lock the front box and one of the side boxes depending on the company within the campground. Then again I usually forget to lock them as well, sometimes even do not get around to closing them.

Never had an issue yet.

It's like locking the doors of a Suzuki Sierra soft top with a suitcase full of cash in it  ;D

By locking it, you satisfy your insurance company.

We have all padlocks keyed alike, makes it much easier. We don't leave anything of value in the tent but do lock up the kitchen and storage.

I also have stainless cable for the solar panels and chairs.

Beachman

I do put a lock through my wheel and around the spring to make it difficult to steal the whole camper and do run a wire cable to my Solar panel, but apart from that we don't use any locks on the zips.

If we are going to be robbed, I would prefer they use the door instead of using a knife to cut their own door.

No locking the camper trailer up, though have zip tied the zippers on the ensuite tent a couple of times over the years  on Fraser Island... To discourage the back packers from using our crapper when we were away from camp  ...
