Tamworth Country Music Festival
« on: January 13, 2014, 06:31:52 AM »
The mrs want to go down for the Aust day weekend.
Won't be taking the camper, just tenting.

Anyone been before? Tips on where to camp?

Is it worth booking tickets to the main events? Or just hang out at the pubs and stuff?

Cheers for any info.

I went in around 1989 or 1990 I can't remember but it was a great time. We camped beside the river and got flooded out so ended up in a church with hundreds of other campers it was great.

Cant help you with camping these days , no doubt its a lot different.

Driving past Thursday, via Calala Lane, might wind the window down but probably not.

Used to live in Calala during the mid 80's. We most times left during yeehaa week to avoid the (insert expletive)wits. The genuine C & W people were great, it's just the hanger-onners and bogans that spoilt the week for others. Just remember there are two kinds of music.....   Country and Western.
They used to open up the sports fields along the river then but if there was a heavy dew upstream the campers got a wash.

We have to start thinking about what sort of a world we are going to leave for Keith Richards after we are all gone.

Thanks.

She got me at a moment of weakness (insert alcohol here) and my reply was 'yeah great idea'.

Next day I think WTF?

Sounds like it might not be too bad a time anyway.
Probably just play it by ear when we get there.

Will update when I get back!

The whole scene has changed up there i think.Last time we were there they banned camping along the Peel River and you had to go to a designated spots. If you had a Winni etc you could probably get away with it.
