How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?  (Homer J Simpson).

During the 1950s - maybe about 1957 - my brother, me and a friend went and bushed walked in the Grosse Valley. I was 12 and my brother 15 and knew how to map read. Spent 5 nights out there after hitch hiking from Sydney to Medlow Bath. Do that nowadays! Carried 5 days food - mostly dehydrated and oats and things. Mum said OK to do it - Dad was in the RAN and overseas. Always thought she didn't know what we got up too!

We spent one night at the base of Govet's Leap my brother and our friend in a two man tent and me I slept in a cave. My brother showed me how to make ochre from the rocks how blow it over your hand print to replicate what the aboriginals would do. We laughed about how in 1000 years some one would find this cave and come to a wrong conclusion.
