I'd rather fill up where I know the water is clean, and available. As it's been mentioned, most places don't have water that we go to.

That, and the cost of 160 litres of water is about 32 cents. Saving money isn't exactly a huge benefit

Good day all,
Might as well put my two bobs worth in,
We always fill the tank 60ltrs, but we only use this for washing up, and stuff..
We also carry 2x20ltr jerry cans, drinking and for the billy.
We never drink from the tank, just rather know and see exactly what we are drinking.
As for the leaving home thing, maybe we might take a detour, or change of plan, n camp on the way or what ever, isn't that the idea, being prepared, being able to change plans...
What if you think, let's camp here the night... Oh s#¥%, got no water! What's the point!
We filled tank n Jerry's at Augusta wa, told water was good straight out of the tap.. Few days later, grabed one of the Jerry's, when I looked in it, the whole bottom of the container was covered in red dirt, it was so fine, but water still tasted ok... Love that red dirt in wa anyway.
By the way, loved the comment about the fridge with no battery, just fill it with ice.. Got a laugh out of that one. Cheers Odog

I just filled flushed and filled out 100 litre tank for the upcoming long weekend. We also take 2 x 20 litre jerries with us.  I prefer the taste of our water and reckon it would be a bit scabby to fill up my tanks with someone else's water.i don't imagine the extra 100 kg of water would make much of a difference to my fuel economy.
