We have quite a few interstate visitors players while they visit Darwin, we like that particularly good players ;)

O.K. I know this is a bit off topic -- NT Government is currently evicting the NT Badminton club from its hall that been its home for the last 30 years a dedicated sports facility, called the "Sports House" in Fannie Bay, NT, (That's in Darwin), without any replacement facility, it will kill badminton in Darwin. The government's explanation of this eviction is its need to convert the land zoning from "community purpose" to "medium density" and sell the land for housing development to the highest private bidder, to build medium/high density flats/town house for Darwin housing needs.

If you live in or near Darwin, we are running a public campaign event tomorrow Nov 01, from 12:00 to 02:00 PM at Raintree Park, Cnr Smith Street Mall and Knuckey St, Darwin. be there if you can.. at least find out what's going as it could happen to your sport. More info at http://www.saveoursport.org.au/youre-invited/public-campaign-launch-save-our-sport-badminton for those who can attend.

If you don't live in  Darwin you can still help us by going to http://www.saveoursport.org.au/ and sign a online petition, hopefully bring the governent to their senses.

It's seems sort of silly we need to fight like this, but it's what we have to do to keep our sport alive.

Thanks heaps  -- Every little bit helps  :cup:

I have a video clip from the Northern Territory ABC News on our little event today.

We had adults, kids, seniors, playing Badminton right in front of the main shopping  mall in the CBD of Darwin -- It what makes up our club playing Badminton  -- It's sort of crazy that the NT Government just kicking us out of our facility, just to sell the land to the highest bidder.   I did think that governments were for the people but they do make me wonder some times.

Hopeful we can put enough pressure on them so that they can see sense. Anyway we're not going down without a fight.
