Hello,
I have a wedding coming up in Shark Bay and will hopefully have a new born by then so I don't think I will quite make the whole trip in one day. Any recommendation to where to camp on side of road. Hopefully planning to make other side of Geraldton on the first day.
Cheers

Good rest stop that you camp at is murchison river, galena bridge, but is a reasonable dist from gero.

An early start should see you camping by mid arvo.

I always leave at 2-3am when heading north (sometimes even earlier) and do it in one, its a long day with the little one but regular breaks for feeds gives you a good opportunity to rest.

I did the trip from Perth to Shark Bay with a 4 week old left about 4.30am after baby was fed and got there mid arvo no problems - you would be best to get the trip done and dusted in one day. Babies travel better than young kids.

Agree with fishfinder.
We did the trip to Shark Bay last easter, left perth @ 6;30   were in Geralton by 11;30.
Had a hour there catching up with friends and was in Denham by 5pm.
And that was travelling towing camper and not going over 100 kph.

x2 we stop here all the time for a camp, when you leave in the morning take the southern exit not the north one across the river as it is a bit of a blind corner and the truck fly through that bit to get a run up for the hill.

+1 for Murchison river...

It has become our overnight stop on a few trips now, travelling both north and south.

Possibly another option for you is to do as we have done (2 familys with young girls, not quite as young as yours) is to leave perth in the afternoon and drive into the night, we usually pull into Murchison around 10.30/11pm and camp up (quietly)

both times we have done this the girls fall asleep after dinner (at 440 roadhouse, just north of Gero) and dont wake up when we transfer them to the campers at Murchison.

That's a good tip Bm0 , a few mates do that!
I haven't yet, but will at some point.

as long as your kid(s) will sleep in the car it works brilliantly!!

With the jaycos, you do need to camp away from others because when you wind them up they do make a bit of noise (especially 2 synchronised....)
