My Mrs is working in Darwin from the 5th til the 9th of Oct Im thinking of getting the kids looked after at home and to help carry the wifes bags for her on the plane
We have been up that way in late May a few years ago did the croc park thing, fished the Daly river for two days with a guide ,did a quick trip looking for some Pigs and Buffalo and did Litchfield National park in one Big day then One Massive day in Kakadu from Darwin til Cahills Crossing and back then the Mrs had a full day of shopping.
It was a great little taste of whats up there
What Im wanting to know is this time of year is the fishing any good?
Is the heat unbearable?
What else is there to do?
I do have a cousin working up at Nullumbuy that I could hook up with but not if its stinking hot, it seems a fair way out of town and Ill be in a hire car if I do travel and ill head back to Darwin on the 9th to relax with the Mrs after shes finish working for twos days before we head back to Sydney
Cheers Mike

Ooh I love Darwin, mainly because I'm a mad keen barra fisho, if you like fishing the barra should be getting randy as again in October due to the water temp warming up again, so they should be very keen to eat some lures.

Other things I lke doing in Darwin is going down to the wave pool area, relaxing on the grass have a swim, eat ice cream all day and watch scantily clad back packers walk past all day.   ;D

Drive from Darwin to Nhulunbuy can be done in a day but its a long drive - depending on the track condition and if they get any extremlu early rain - it took us about 12hours to do the run from katherine in - mind you else were also being extra careful as we didn't have a spare.  At that time of year you are in the build up so high humidity.

The wife and I were up there in 2009 and that wave pool wasn't there but gee it looks good, as for hotels we stayed in the Cavenagh for a couple nights before we flew home which has its own pool so as to the scantily clad back packers I don't know what you mean ;-).
Hydration - Check I always do that
Shananigans Ill look out for that one
The Markets at Mindle Beach were good too from memory

Thanks for your replies

Go to Casuarina Shopping Center and enjoy the aircon as you will need it at that time of year being the start of the build-up to the wet season...
