Try before we buy Eagle
« on: May 01, 2012, 08:32:32 PM »
We have been thinking that we would like to upgrade to a wind up CT within the next couple years, so during my next R&R 18th-25th May we are hiring a 2011 Eagle and heading to Ballarat, Echuca and Mildura to make sure this style CT suits us.

We will go with powerd sites as we will take the lekky blankets and heater.

If anyone else is looking to try before you buy, we are hiring the Eagle from Great Rates Australia who hire late model Jayco caravans and campers.

http://www.greatratesaustralia.com.au/

We will update on the service we recieve from this company during and post hire, but so far it's been great.

I was told part of the reason that Jayco build their new 50000klm plant at Dandenong was so people could either hire and try, or try on site (I was informed thats why the lake is there)

Anyone tried through the home office?

Well so far so good, the Eagle tows very well (I dont know if an Outback model will tow any different?) we love the quick setup/packup times, plenty of room to relax inside and we think its the best style CT to suit our requirements.

On the other side we are not very impressed by the finish of the Jayco, everything has that cheap look about it :-\ but thats just our opinion. We are not saying the Jayco is bad, just built to a price and it is our opinion that for the price tag the quality could be a little better.

We will be looking closely at the Coromal and Goldstream campers before we make a decision on which CT we will upgrade to.

You will need a 'fatter' wallet then, I have an Eagle and although it may lack the finish of the Goldstream, it is cetrainly on par with the Coromal.

I suppose it comes down to what you can afford!

G'day Bubba,
I haven't laid eyes on a Coromal, friends have just purchased one late last year, they say you have to have it wound up to access inside. Which I think would be a PITA.
Were as the Jayco's you can leave the roof down(pop one clip and open the door) and pack the fridge and climb inside.
Something to look at.

Talking to the guys at Gawler Caravan Centre, who are a repair agent of Jayco, Coromal and Goldstream, they say that the best warranty comes with the Jayco, and from experience I can say jayco do fix anything that comes up, no questions asked.
