Waterproof Duffel bag

Ok after years of saying I need one and not getting one I am going to buy a waterproof gear bag for my boat trips .

Can anyone recomend a brand that they have that has stood the test of time ,I'm off on another crabbing trip and we are taking my mates boat which tends to get more water in it than is left in the ocean (or at least it feels that way). And given is pretty cold at night I don't want wet clothes.

Hi mate, every now and then I get a decent wave over the bow (5.5m boat) mostly due to the dickhead pilot ;D but we use the inexpensive dry sacks, the $20 jobs. Treated with care I have been using the same ones for about 5 years now.

Even when we pull up where we can't get the boat close enough to chuck things on shore, I swim towels and cameras (etc.) across with them - I've never had one leak yet!

I have one of these and gets chucked on the roof rack....tough, water proof (I dont know if it would be 100% if it fell in the drink ;D..but its handled plenty of downpours of wind blown rain on it)  and dust proof.......Kind Regards.... John

I have the Denali Anaconda version (looks like they came out of the same factory) and so far they have been good.

Mate I use this one.

Mine is 8 years old, is used every day and goes out in the boat at least 3 days a week in all weather conditions. It is still water proof and in great nick after this long used in commercial conditions.

Most saddlery supply stores have duffels, water proof and otherwise.  Some are poly, others are canvas, all depends what you are looking for.

Maybe have one made, i have two dive bags made from tautliner material and find them great, waterproof in every sense, and you can have them custom designed.

Price wise, mine cost a couple of hundred, but are quiet large in size (carry enough gear for a 2 week trip no problems)

Ill post a pic if i can, but something to think about. ;D

I was given a ARB one as an extra when setting up the vehicle.
It sat on the roof rack whilst doing the Gibb River Road, Tanami, Oodnadatta and Birdsville tracks with no dust.

Just recently, I went fishing/crabbing with a mate. We pulled down camp and left all our gear just above the high water mark and set off to pull in all the pots.
When we got back our version of high tide and the oceans were about a metre different. She won and my ARB bag full of gear was rolling around in the surf zone.

Nothing was wet inside, so it gets my vote.

What sort of idiot who calls himself a fisherman would make a beginers mistake like that ? He must have been pushing the pots a bit hard hey.. what a loser I would not go crabbing with him agian Billyo , LOL

Hi,
   we used screw top plastic barrels for a trip down the Franklin River in rubber rafts many years ago.
Totally water proof and were discards from one of the local industries. ($0:00) Yea!
Very hard to tie down till I put a macramé type rope net around it.
I still use them on the back of the ute for sleeping gear and clothes.
