Camel water tank just tough or really tough?

Just brought a camel water  tank and was wondering if anybody has punctured one of these. On the website they say no need for a bash plate.But what happens over time just looking for any info that may help thanks.

I'd be very surprised if one could puncture it, where there's a will someone will find a way but through normal use you'd be hard pressed to have any problems.

Why do they say that you don't need protection for the tank? What makes it so special?

IIRC,

something about the thickness of the material used, approx 10mm thick

I had a customer ring me the other day to order a tank.

His brother has a custom made trailer with twin water tanks fitted under. Something happened to his suspension and it colapsed under the trailer at highways speeds and the trailer was dragged for a short distance on the water tanks.
The tanks didn't rupture o leak at all!

I have a Camel water tank at rear of the trailer. Havent treated it with kindness, slammed the trailer down on tank when up the Cape on a creek crossing. No dramas whatsoever... lots of stone chips.
One thing you have to do is seal the top of the tank as it has a baffle moulded down into tank..(you will see what i mean) the viod is a good stone collecter. I filled mine with expander foam and then capped it with a piece of poly sheet which is stuck down with Sikaflex.

If your wondering why their rated so highly, have a look at em in the flesh - I'm actually shocked some of the higher end camper manufactureres don't use em, instead still protecting their tanks.....??
All Terrain Camper trailers used to use em, until they decided to copy their design, material and brand em their own.

A good feature of these, besides their strength, are the filler and outlets are all on top out of harms way. Also the way the mounting are done they are well protected.
