camper shock absorbers

can any one tell me why trailer manufacturer install their shock absorbers with such a laid back angle?????

Because the top generally has to fit under the floor rather than above the floor in a hump or guard as happens in cars.

what im trying to say is why don't they use a shorter shock as the shock laid back like that is purely cosmetic as its affect on the suspension is useless at that angle

Guessing now but I would say availability of suitable short shocks.
