Question regarding mesh matting under mattress

After reading other posts about moisture getting under mattresses, was wondering if there was a cheaper option for this than

You could try plastic mesh garden fence stuff.
Lay 2 or 3 sheets on top of one another and bind them together.
You bind them so that the holes of each sheet are offset half a hole to the previous one.
Lay the mesh in the camper and lay the mattress on top.  Does the same job.
It's your sweat, and condensation, that causes the moisture problem.
Just like the moisture on the inside of the camper is from your hot and heavy breathing overnight as you sleep.
Clark Rubber sell a mesh mat for this application also.

Great idea, think that is a much more cost effective method than the retail version

Ultimate supply that underlay as an option in their trailers. I have it and have never had moisture under the mattress.

Got it as well on our Ultimate, but we have noticed moisture under the mattress, particularly on cold mornings.

We have the proper stuff from clark rubber. Comes off a 2m wide roll @ $145 per meter. One of many great mods. Never any moisture, having said that, my bed end base is marine sealed with a 4mm silver foiled lined foam sheet then the air mesh on top then the mattress.

I have heard of people using shade cloth.

Out neighbor uses cheap cotton sheets under their mattress to soak up moisture, then airs out prior to packing up.

I've got a Cub Spacematic with a Ikea queen mattress fitted. The under floor of simple plywood not sealed.
The first thing I did on taking the camper home, was to pull Cub's mattress out and ditch it, then drill 3 inch holes into the ply floor on both sides allowing air flow underneath the mattress, (don't cut in too many, otherwise the ply will crack when opening to access the space underneath) then I sealed the plywood with a sealer paying special attention to the sharp cuts the holes made.
After every trip we make exceeding 4 days, I pull the mattress out and allow it to stand in the sun for a day or two to thoroughly dry out any moisture therein if any.
My daughter and son in law totally ignored my example and after 6 months they noticed an aggressive growth of mould on the wooden ply floor and their mattress of their camper trailer. Cost them quiet a bit to  remedy the problem.
I believe it's better to prevent such issues ever arising, than to simply ignore them.

Another reason why myswaggers is so awesome folks...

Until reading this thread it never occurred to me that moisture would get under my mattress ...   So far we have been out in our van only a few times...   but on a couple of those occasions we have had overnight condensation all over the walls!!    ... no doubt also under the mattress as well...

I used no slip matting as I had some left over from another job, it seems to work ok.

If you have smooth surfaces on the interior of your Van, moisture will gather while you sleep.  It's like breathing on a window.
The warmer the interior of the van, the longer it takes for the moisture to gather, but it still will/does.
One way to minimize this, with hard bodied vans, is lining the inside with material that looks like polar fleece.
It's not quite as simple with swags or campers with canvas tentage. 
You have to have good venting, but it doesn't cure it, it reduces it.
And, of course, the more occupants of the tent/camper, the more moisture.
It's that simple.

Is it worth putting circulation mesh (insert whatever brand) under a swag mattress with a Pvc  floor?

I have a new swag and have been completing the seasoning process. Been in the tropics I am concerned about moisture build up whilst sleeping. Done heaps of reading and can't find an answer on the net regarding a swag. Plenty on camper trailers, vans etc.

Hi,  A closed cell sleeping mat between you and the matress should cut the condensation considerably.
