Not sure what a B.E.S.T. filter is but you should take a water sample to a water testing lab to see what's in it that is causing the problem.
Carbon filtration will remove many chemicals, bad tastes and odours but you will need to match a flow rate to a filter size to get effective filtering. If you have iron in your water this will block your filter very quickly and this needs a special process to remove it down to an acceptable level. If you suspect iron then you will need to get your sample to the lab quickly as the iron will precipitate and you won't get an accurate reading. Filtering the whole of house can be expensive so you may want to consider just doing just a drinking water tap.

Hi Keith,
If you are talking about the sulphur smell you get around the Blackall, Longreach, Winton area then the sulphur smell/taste will disappear as soon as the water is cold. Just let it sit and cool and all will be fine. I do love my B.E.S.T filter though.

Yes I am talking about camper trailer water.

Ooops! OK, sorry i thought he was referring to a household supply. In that case, get a 10inch housing and put a 10inch, 0.5 micron solid block carbon cartridge in it. This will ensure safe, clean and good tasting drinking water.

Or to answer the original question:  not completely.    There is still a bit of smell and taste, but noticeably improved from the original water.

You are still better off if you avoid filling your tank in the towns where the water is worst.

Where are you headed?

Not heading anywhere in particular at the moment, but we were up in NE South SA and SW Qld earlier in the year and sweet water was hard to find  - other than in 10 litre cardboard casks at the servos.
Roxby Downs (with its own reverse osmosis plant) had good water, but that was about it.
In a lot of places water from the taps stank like hell, but it improved  after a few days in the camper tank.

Coober Pedy also has excellent reverse osmosis water, and there are two fill up stations in town for just a few coins.
