free campsites around Yeppoon?
« on: July 23, 2014, 07:45:52 PM »
Hi Everyone!
On our way up to Yeppoon tomorrow after having a great time in 1770.
Does anyone know of any great campsites around Yeppoon?
Cheers
George

Not sure how far you want to be from town, but north of Yeppon is a awesome camping spot called Stoney Creek.

We used to go there when I was a young bloke. From memory its an hour from town though.

There isn't any free camping around Yeppoon, but as suggested Stoney Creek in Byfield State Forest is a lovely spot. Forestry have been doing a lot of work around the area, so sites have been limited. it's only a 1/2 North, and handy to Five Rocks also.

We stayed in Byfield SF at Red Rock campground last Sept.  Not near water, and not free, but cheaper than a CP in town!  30min from town centre.    Kris

There are free camps around the Yeppoon area, there are none with any facilities but there are places you can camp.

At the timbers near the mouth of coorooman creek behind zilzie
On the beach at the mouth of coorooman creek (subject to tides)
The is still a designated camp site along headlow creek which is state land as far as I know
Kellys Landing
Corbetts Landing

But if you don't mind paying your $14 to national parks and have a toilet close by there is
Stoney creek
Water park creek
Red Rock
9 Mile beach
5 rocks camp ground

If you have a small tinny there is the scout camp in cario bay
