Hey BHG, its not the camping she hates ol mate.....  :cup:

Poverty Pack.!

I have a fairly similar thing..
SWMBO won't do overnighters, and alternately won't do more than three weeks in one hit.
Or camp in winter....
I just take her on the trips she wants to come on, and go myself when she doesn't.
We also balance camping with "5 star" holidays she likes to do too (so do I to be honest)
Variety. :)

The upside to man camping with your group of friends is. After I have man cooked.. Read.. One pot and a bit of steak..(cooking is not my thing)
I put my hang dog look on, go hang at other camp sites and eat their food too ;)
Always give 100%... Unless you are giving blood.. then it may not go so well...

Taking my partner to the Cape for the first time. She has been camping before and was in the army reserves when she was younger so she is well trained.

Just have to tell her that she will be doing all the cooking as being Trip leader I must mingle with the other travelers drinking and socializing.

She likes cooking and so do I so we will blend well.

Last trip I took my other partner John  :D and he was good.  :-[

My wife is as keen as. She was asked by her friends,to go out clubbing recently. Her answer? I'd rather go camping. She initiated buying the Cameron and the 100 Series. Who was I to argue? ;D ;D 8)

Has nobody picked up on this rather glaring omission yet? How on earth do you get her to cook and clean at home, let alone while out camping? That's the real mystery  ;D

Some very interesting points and views here .... Please be assured we are NO WHERE near getting a divorce!
For the record, I do 50 % of the cooking ,cleaning etc etc at home and about 90% of it out camping. My boys are well trained and set the table and wash up, when required. I think the wife just finds it less than fun trying to cook on a portable gas stove, and wash up in a basin. Im working on improving my camping setup, which is the whole reason we own the Cub.

Ill let you know how this camping trip goes on the weekend, as Im planning on taking several bottles of wine (for her not me) and giving her some quality relaxing time!

Cheers Chippy :D

Ooh get an ozpig personal fire and can cook on it as well. As lino6 mentioned I LOOOOOOVE camping and would go every weekend if other life things didn't get in the way.  Lino6 does lots of the work camping and at home.  (No I do not work for ozpig)

So what does she like, that isn't what you do on a regular weekend at home?  When she isn't cooking cleaning and herding kids, what does she do?  Art? Craft? Exercise? Socialising? Music?   What did she do before the kids came along?

If you can find a way to tap into her core interests, you may have more success.

For example, if she is a very social person you might find she likes having her friends around so she can spend time talking with them while you take responsibility for chores and kids.

And are you sure you take responsibility for kids and chores?  Not just do what she says needs doing? There is a huge difference in her mind.

Well .... I'm the female half and I'm the one that bought the camper after gaining all the knowledge from this site. ! I love to camp ... it's the need to fish non stop that is a bit much. ... but I cope with it ... Especially if he's catching dinner !! I like it most when we mix camping with tourist type things too.

I thought my wife being a country girl brought up on a farm in Hyden WA (Wave rock) would be a big time camper how wrong was I.

When we started going out I took her on a 6 week trip through the Kimberley's as a ice breaker into camping all would have been good if it wasn't for the timely release of Wolf creek the movie everywhere we camped she had panic attacks worrying that old mate was going to burst into our camp and do us in.

Many years later she is slightly better but I wouldn't call her a seasoned camper thanks to that movie swags are out of the question hence the purchase of the camper trailer I'm guessing she thinks knives can't through canvas doors ???

The smiles were fake from her in the photo and she couldn't wait to get out of there we thought it was hilarious with the chainsaw and axe and tomato sauce as pretend blood on the sign.

My misses isnt a big camper but is willing now and then cause my boy and I love it.
But to be honest I like it with just me and the boy as its our thing and a good getaway from it all.

TO try and make it better I bought a roof top tent set and built it on my trailer. Better than the old kmart tent we had.
Money holds us back on getting much but getting there slowly

Bill

Morag enjoys camping as much as or maybe even more than I do, especially when we take our two dogs.
She is the reason we bought the camper trailer. Not because it is nicer for us,  but because it is always packed with the essentials so it makes it easier to get out there,  hence we go more.
She doesnt mind the roughing it one bit.
I do 99.9% of the cooking and she does 99.9% of the cleaning up.
All the other chores we share equally.
I have only one complaint.
She has this bad habit of catching more fish than me, which is fine. But does she have to tell EVERYONE?  ???
