Large amount of used Quality Campers for sale at moment

I've noticed over the last few weeks, a growing number of trailers coming up for sale.  Many of them are from longer standing members.

All are top quality and many going for good prices (well excluding chinese ****) ??? ???

There are the usual few that paid $50k for it 10 yrs ago and want 55k for it now with holes in canvas, bald tyres and a dead battery...

Just wondering why so many are forsale - Is it a bad time of year financially, or people had enough camping, or...  Just think its strange.

Be an awesome time to be buying a trailer right now.

Mine is one of those campers for sale at what I think is a very reasonable price for a quality mostly Australian made product. Xtrail tent. We are only selling to get a Swan Outback etc so we don't have to get motel for overnight stays on long trips. We love this trailer and a lot of time and thought went into the manufacture. However I have not had one offer and I think you're correct "Lost" that it seems to be a bit of a saturation of the market at the moment. Maybe there is a thought also among sellers that people are looking for campers/vans to go on summer holidays??

No doubt some are 'up-grading' to some form of internal kitchen.
I guess there is a time when we all get too old to pitch canvas / haul ropes, at which time we go to open variety or other of the 'dark side' if we continue to choose to get out there camping, even if it is more like 'clamping'.
Others with new babies decide that pop tops etc are more practical for them.
What I can't understand is why some choose to pay ~$6000 for new imported Chinese campers through places like Rays etc, when great 2nd hand Aussie campers can be had for similar prices from 'real people' on this and other forums.

My " Black Pearl " it up for relocation to a new family . As the weather gets better between now & after Easter   new Swaggers are going to be more inclined to venture out & about . When the family are convinced  to try CTs it better if they have a great experience than sitting in the CT shivvvering  as rain is blown in by a gale . . lts like swimming pools harder to sell in winter .  A nobrainer if you think about it  :cheers:

Only selling ours because we bought a new Cub.
Did suggest to the missus to keep both didnt go down to well.

I'll be selling mine for medical bills for the little girl. Have done lots to it, and yes it is of the three letter brand type we are not to speak of!

I don't want to sell and I have had a swagger ask about it just by me saying I was thinking of selling it but it was out of their price range.

Will reconsider the price I'm asking.

I just sold mine to fund the Kimberley rebuild project. One of my mates thinks i'm mad and would have preferred the walkway softfloor but each to their own. My problem is i enjoy working on my campers as much as i do going away in them. It's a release for me from the grind of the office day job. Sold for full asking price in less than a week. I guess i either got lucky with a specific buyer or added significant value to my trailer with the DIY mods.

Im also surprised that many people buy their new trailer before selling the old one, then Shit their pants for 8 mths cause they cant give their old one away.... I dont see the logic in playing that way.. ??????

We purchased our new KK before we sold the "old" KK.
We are now KK fleet owners. I am not worried because it will sell sometime and if I had the $$ for it sitting in a cash account I would be getting chicken sh1t interest.
I was not intending to buy a new camper but when the opportunity presented itself we went for it.
So if anyone wants a KK in fantastic condition, well you know who to call... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

BCF sell the MDC version. I haven't seen them at Rays personally but BCF and RAYS are the same company so I guess they would sell them too.

5K for overide brakes, no kitchen, water tank, pump, electrics? Would be a 10K camper with all that fitted? May as well get a Aussie Jays.

Kitchen, water tank and electrics are definite 'musts' when buying. However, nothing wrong with over ride brakes IMO and I prefer designs that eliminate the need for a water pump. These last 2 are a couple of the things I prefer about my Heaslip, as they both make it just that little bit more 'bullet proof', in that there are less things to go wrong when it matters - i.e. miles from anywhere.

After 3 yrs of ownership my GS will be up for sale after January holidays, and I won't be buying anything prior to it selling, if and when it does. Selling primarily for financial reasons. I have been without camping capabilities before so a year or two with no CT is not going to be the end of the world (I hope!).   Suspect that the looming Christmas holiday period is a major reason for people to sell, esp if they have been considering it for a while.

With camping fees being introduced in vic, I predict the market will be flooded with camper trailers and caravans, eventually getting cheaper and cheaper.

Just so long as it isnt introduced to state forest etc as well.  With the dog we will now be spending more camping time in state forest etc, rather than national parks.

Selling ours due to change to an addition to the family. Not in a hurry, and we're not going to buy anything until the old one is sold.  The happier the family is whilst away, the more we can go away.

Anyone want to buy a great camper ?

Our Topaz is up for sale as we are having a change in direction and after a van to live in permanently as we travel and work. We bought before we sold as we have a 12 month wait for the van to build, a risk we take but it won't effect us so it is for us to worry about not anyone else.

Try NSW: $10 per adult per day + $7 per day for vehicle. $27 in national parks with zero facilities. No wonder people are getting OUT of camping in these spots. Off topic, but half relevant to possible explanation for flooding of market with used CT's.

I don't think camping fees or increases thereof have anything to do with it, people are offloading discretionary toys either because they have lost their jobs or they are nervous they are going to lose their job and want to get some cash in the bank or off the mortgage. Normal boom and bust cycle. You just have to visit a boat or caravan yard at the moment and talk to the sales guys to know people aren't spending their hard earned.

They are talking up to $59.00 a nite + this plus that, no mention of any facility upgrades, building, or even a tree to piss on....  That's up from $0.00 Small increase they call it.
