What do people think of the underlined section of the eBay message? I recently purchased from this Australian seller. Acceptable blackmail or not?

"Dear customer, item has been sent on 17/06/2013 via express post, it should be delivered within 2 business days, you can track online at http://www.auspost.com.au*****or ring 131318 to track consignment no: 60600799227095. Online information is always 1-2 days old.
*please keep the tax invoice for manufactory warranty*

I don't see a problem with it, afaik I don't think sellers can leave -ve feedback for buyers these days.

Seen the same wording, or very similar, on heaps of ebay sites.  I think they are just trying to make sure you give them a chance to resolve any complaints first.  Don't read too much into it.

Yep on most of them now.. Not sure if its really an issue as long as things are resolved if you have issues

Though it is sort of like asking for a tip? Not monetary of course but should we just reward when we have received exceptional service?

He is just asking for a chance to resolve the problem before negative feedback is given. Good business practice.

As a seller on ebay we allways leave feedback straight away. Afterall the buyer has done their part. We do send them in their parcel a note if anything is wrong or whatever the case maybe they allow us the chance to correct the issue. We have had to correct issues in the past and we still have 100% feedback.

Give them a chance to rectify any issues, same as any other business or store.

If its not resolved in a 'reasonable' way or in a 'reasonable' amount of time/fashion then fair play, negative feedback.

Clear communication as to what the isssue is, and how it can be resolved and give them the chance to rectify and then with patience and understanding and no stress, both come out happy and content.

Quoted...... "my aim is to resolve any and all issues as soon as possible in order to keep you happy!"

Give them the option to refund/replace/repair and rectify.


Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

I do see this all the time with different sellers.

I have sold some 'stuff' in the past, always leave feedback once buyer has paid. I do have the line to say let me know if a problem before leaving feedback to give me a chance to resolve issue.

I used to think that the feedback was anonymous, well, the ratings are supposed to be. I have had a communication from a seller when I left them an overall positive comment and rating, but only gave four stars for delivery time as it took two weeks to arrive from Melb, I had sent them an email asking if item was sent after a week, didn't get response.
I then received an email from seller saying why did I not give them 5 star rating.... I did respond about the delay in delivery and my not-replied to communication. Seller not happy with my rating.

I find it thoroughly objectionable for feeback for the buyer being dependant on the buyer giving +ive feedback. That is blackmail and has nothing to do with being an ethical/good business.
If the buyer fulfils the buying conditions, end of story they deserve immediate feedback. If there are subsequent problems they can be resolved. I would not buy IF i knew a seller was acting in this manner. Unfortunately I did not know and this seller has made me cranky  >:(

Sellers can't leave -ve feedback, their options are positive or none

Sellers aren't able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. That means sellers need other tools that will protect them against unfair treatment from buyers and bring those buyers to eBay's attention.

I receive the same message from most sellers, I don't leave any feedback because although they meet there terms of sale  some sellers are very relaxed (slack) with keeping you up to date with the progress of the transaction not to mention some of the packaging I've received items in. When compared to other sellers, It seemed like the condition of the goods relied heavily on the postie having kit gloves. EG: Same item sent from different sellers, 1 choosing the cheapest crap envelope (torn and damaged packaging when I received it but goods undamaged, mostly luck) and the other taking the care to send it in a post pack arriving in good condition with no signs
of damage. 
It's unfair to leave the same + response to both sellers so I leave none.

Those sellers annoy me. They refuse to leave you feedback until you leave them + feedback. The buyer completes their part of the transaction first and should receive feedback first.

A good seller will leave you feedback as soon as the payment is received.

The others just hold you to ransom.

If we sell anything on eBay this is exactly what we do, as you say Chris the buyer has done their part.

I understand where you are coming from UIZ733, but as most have said it seems to be the way sellers go these days. I think this has come about because a seller can't leave negative feedback anymore, it's their way of assuring you leave positive feedback for them. I guess it's a form of blackmail. I think the new system is better though as in the past a buyer could be concerned about leaving negative feedback for a seller in fear of repercussions from the seller leaving negative feedback, I know I have been concern in the past. Now if a seller doesn't do the right thing I don't have any concerns about leaving negative feedback, if they don't give me any positive feedback I don't care.
