It was $88/car and $11/trailer last year, and has been for years.

It does sound expensive, but the alternative could be a lot more so >:D...plus it officially grants you access to some amazing places and campsites i.e.: Somerset, Mutee Head, Vrilya Point etc...

You could also ring the Injinoo Community Council who run the ferry.

Have a great trip! I can't wait to go back up.

As from 1 May it is $130.00 per car

gclan

It's been years since the last price increase...like a decade or more.

Does that include a trailer or just the vehicle?

It's still not that bad a price, considering camping beyond the Jardine is included(outside of the caravan parks)

Wazza2

Yes the price has gone up. It may be a short trip but I'd hate to be maintaining a piece of equipemnt like that in such a remote location. Can't blame them if it's been a while since the last increase.

Looking forward to the experience!

$129.00 return cars $145.00 return with trailer, bit different from other prices.

It cost $20 30 years for punt with a little outboard on it so $129 is pritty good if you think of the alternative.
Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

l reckon you have missed the point . If you can spend the $$ to get there at the Jardine  then you can afford the fare . Can you please name 1 spot that dosen't try to rip it up the traveler . Get over it & get on it . This might be the cheapest bite the Cape inflicts on you .
When the Cape Bites you it can really hurt .
If it costs to much stay home  >:D

Doesnt the fees cover the parks pass to go to the tip??

It cost us $145.00 with the CT, still that's the cost of being there... There's also the admission to native lands & camping permits etc.

Yes but apparently it's just easier to get angry at the ferry owners instead. I mean how dare they run a business that has a limited income generating period.

On a side note friends if mine did the crossing of the Jardine in the early 80s. Two of them in a Rangie with their dog. Decided to cross late in the afternoon. Half way across they stalled and got swept down the river out of sight if the crossing as the darkness fell. They grabbed their gun, the dog and a spotlight and climbed up onto the roof rack. Sometime during the night the dog was taken from between them by a croc.

Next morning paper rock scissors as to who swam and who was look out. Late afternoon they managed to get someone to recover them somehow.

Vehicle was a write off and took them a couple of weeks to get back to Cairns

JethroT

It's just like buying a Toyota, they charge you an extra $10,000.00 for the privilege, but it's worth the price of admission.
