Hi Jeepers, were there many sand flies about? My parents used to take the family up the west side of Fraser every Xmas & Easter in the 80's for many years, but eventually the dratted sandies drove us all mad and we swapped to camping at Ocean Beach. Always found that side interesting, and I take it there weren't any nude colonies or a man of your dry wit would not have resisted both a report & pics!

Jeepers Creepers

No sandflies, a few march flies, a few dolphins and no nudies, male or female.

What do mean, my dry wit......  :D

No sand flies, well bugger me I would have bet my house on them being a royal PIA. May have to re think having a sticky beak at the western beaches.
Question: is the fire ban on Fraser over the whole island or just the eastern beaches?
Your wit can be however you like it, wetwit is a new term that I may just steal if the situation arises...

Jeepers Creepers

the fire ban is island wide, even inskip has a fire ban atm.

I'm going to shoot for easter, to get all the way up to the top of Fraser and the spots you've suggested.
Last week, we had storms on the forecast and where we were to anchor had we gone all the way up, gave no protection if the wind swung around.
I've gotta go through the history of wind at easter with some locals, as its bloody average with the ol rock and roll.

Plus, the fuel cost is a worry if it blows up too, as calling it early, you still have the fuel cost to factor in.
As it was, we put 165 litres in at Urangan on the way up and another 160 litres upon our return to Tin Can.
At marina prices, of 158.9 x 325 litres of fuel, we tipped over $500.00 into it for the trip.

To go to the top, we would do a second refuel at Urangan on the return trip, so i can add another 150 litres to the trip.

However, having said that, ya alive for a short time and dead forever, so we'll hang the cost and just do it i think.

At least i've got some time up my sleeve now.......
