Just before going to Fraser I thought I would modify the Ram Nexus Cradle with the Suction Cup mount as it blocked a bit of the view and was a reach to move the map. I think if i went with the longer arm it might be ok.
After a bit of playing around I ended up bolting the arm to an ordinary cork sanding block which fitted perfectly into the din pocket under the radio. Worked a treat and didn't' move a mm with 10 days of bouncing over Fraser.
I liked that it moved the screen out of my view and was easy to take a quick look at when needed. Easy to reach to scroll map or check distances.
Also after reading Cyberess's tablet setup guide i switched over to Orux Maps. With the Hema Fraser topo map Orux worked a treat and I must say I never went back to Ozi Explorer.
Very happy with the Nexus. Used the CoPilot app for on road and with Orux for off road I couldn't have asked for anything else. Great combo.

On a side note I used a Micro USB to USB connector and the Nexus Video Importer on my sons tablet so he could watch episodes of Malcolm in the Middle without using the limited hard disc space. I was able to download every season and store on a usb storage device and copy over to tablet season at a time when needed.

Love the idea, I will have to see what I can do with the Cruiser, as I have an iPad which I believe is even bigger.

Very neat little trick you made there.

How do you secure the bolts into the cork? Did you just screw it in or use an epoxy?

Renno

I just drilled right through the cork, cut bolts to length and used flat washer with nylock nuts. Worked  a lot better than I thought.

Excellent  result  :cup: -- With the mount,  getting the perfect mount setup  for a vehicle with out blocking vents, driving view etc.. can be a challenge, well done.

I like your idea of the  Micro USB to USB female connector  -- I can use a 32G USB pen drive..  I must say I have been enjoying my Nexus 7 -- I have just purchased a few of the Micro USB to USB female connector off Ebay..  It be about a week before I will see that connector

For fun I have also started to get into Geocaching http://www.geocaching.com/ using "c:geo" great app http://cgeo.org/   It's been good fun for the whole family, and also been loading all the good GPS apps (Oruxmaps) on the family members mobile phones, it's great having a good GPS in the pocket.

Get MX Player for the AVI's. I find it 'smoother to copy over from the thumb drive and watch using Mx player then delete when finished rather than leave USB connected. Works fine with other formats but most of mine are AVI's.
