Hi guy & gals,
what variety/brand of kayaks do you use ? -  I'm thinking about a couple of sit-ons for our waterside trips, any recommendations/advise/tips/hints gladly received.
cheers

We just bought the Guy Leech signature series at Anaconda on special and they seem to be great entry level kayak for us.

Hi Guys

It's not strictly a kayak, but I purchased a wavemaster Roto 2.6mtr (surf ski).

Great for still water and small surf. Great fun.

I have a hobie outback
Nice to be able to peddle along and have the freedom to do as I please with my hands :)
I mean fishing, photography etc..... After all it is only a single yak .

we use double "spirit" kayaks- we have found them to be a great allrounder as being a little sleeker in the water than a "fishing" kayak enables the wife and me to manoeuvre the kids in the front.

they are pretty light being that I can lift by myself onto the roof racks

we bought second hand ex hireto save some $$$ as they can be expensive

Hi Oldsalt

We have two RTM sit on kayaks purchased from Anaconda.  They have taken a beating over the past couple of years.  Over rocks and causeways, no problems.  Good in the surf also.  Anaconda has a sale starting today with some kayaks on special. (no affiliation, just happy customer).

Bit of advice.  Pay a bit more and get a good paddle.  Makes a difference when doing long river trips.

Good luck

Ynot

I went for a wider yak originally because I was worried about stability though it didn't take long to realize that it was a lot more effort to paddle so then bought another sleek version which is so much easier.

If doing again I would probably go straight to the later.

My current version is a viking javelin 14.
