Fridge slide/Evakool/Securing fridge cable/Drawers

G'day all,

Just wondering who has a fridge slide with a RF60 Evakool on it (white fibreglass).

If so, do u have it with the compressor end of the fridge facing rear of the car or front of the car?

What type of slide do u have, straight slide, drop slide, which brand?

How do u secure the fridge power lead so it isn't getting caught up?
 
I like the Drifta 4wd drawer set ups, and like both the two drawers side by side with fridge on top, with drop slide, but also like the drawers stacked vertical, with the fridge beside on a straight slide at floor level....... any comments here from owners regarding pros /cons

I imagine most would have the fridge comp facing the rear of the vehicle, as this is where the temp dial and plug connection are, but just interested to hear of others set ups.

straight, home made with 227kg drawer runners

How do u secure the fridge power lead so it isn't getting caught up?

just about to finish construction so haven't tested yet but we just routed the power plug to the back of the ute and will rest the cord on the slide

can reach the temp dial at the back of the fridge if needed but have pretty much got the temp sorted and don't bother adjusting it plus have a remote temp readout to keep an eye on it

If you mount the Fridge with the compressor end to the vehicle rear.
You have to get over it to the fridge.  Means you have further to reach, to get stuff out.
Most Fridge slides come out a set distance.
The idea of the slide is to make access easier.  Why handicap yourself?

Also, when travelling with the Fridge, Compressor to the rear.
The Sun would be on the Motor for longer, creating heat and adding to your Problems.
The Fridge box can be covered without any real penalty, in fact its really a benefit.
The Motor end can't, it must have ventilation, and shade when possible.

My RF60 is on a slide in my Triton rear tub.   in one of these.....http://www.fnb4wd.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2419 ....it just needed to be raised a bit so the rear lip of the slide cleared the bottom of the compressor cover  Then I use a tie down strap over the top of the compressor cover...well and truly strong enough.     The cord (mine is hardwired to the aux battery, I have some plastic conduit around - stiffens it up and stops it getting caught anywhere.   Compressor is at the rear so the fridge box slides out as far as possible.   I'd mount fridge at floor level and have a shelf above it so enable further stacking.....otherwise lost space if it's on top of a drawer and no shelf over it....hope this helps.
