I thought light bars were illegal for highway use in OZ ... Am I wrong ?

I'm sure I read that someplace ...

Darren has one that he keeps for use as a cricket bat.
Very underwhelmed apparently.
I got a sweater for Xmas, really wanted a moaner or screamer.

I followed this Patrol through the mountains around Lithgow of a night a few months back and was very impressed with the light output of the lights.  It's fitted with one very large LED strip and one smaller LED strip mounted on the roofrack.  Both lights were from Rigid Industries.

Just fitted a 20" light bar to a mates Triton ute. Simply awesome light. Love it but I cant bring myself to fork over that sort of money for a light.

They aren't cheap for quality brands.

They are fantastic - unbeatable - for low-range offroading at night, but for highway travel they aren't much chop, they don't have nearly as much throw as even the smaller HID driving lights. If you have the bucks, and do a combination of touring and playing, a light bar plus HID spread-spot combo is the way to go.

I have the Rigid 20'' model on the roof rack of my cruiser throws a good peripheral spread I also have a set of Light Force Striker 170mm on the bull bar I am happy with this current set up.
Didn't want to mount the light bar on the bull bar cause it would be too easy to steal.

Cheers Michael
