Austrack chinese tents

Im thinking of building my next camper trailer with most of the funds going into the trailer [for now] ,so a cheapy type Chinese tent will do us for now . i have seen these tents out at Penrith and thought they were the better of the chinese tents that ive seen . any thoughts .

i actually like the trtailers as well but the freight is a killer [ good excuse to get up to fraser island though  ]

I think you'll find that they have a good reputation.

I had an early model and was impressed with the quality for price.

$105 doesn't seem that much, I would imagine the height of the trailer you are making would need to be whatever they specify so the tent fits properly and touches the ground.

Sorry the freight for the off road trailer and tent = $700-$800 .so im thinking of building a trailer and getting the tent sent down . With the height being 1050mm optimum

Hi Craig,

We`ve had our Austrack tent for 18 months and can`t fault it. We camped in really bad weather at Kinchega, no problems whatsoever. Ours is the 12 ft. and we are going to put gas struts on to make it easier to put up but that`s the only thing we would change .We bought ours from Southern Cross Trailers at Penrith where Scott built the trailer.

I don`t know how to do the link but if you search Austrack Camper Tents there is some info.(may have to click on revise search).

Also on page 6 of My Camper Build under Austrack there are plenty of comments.

Oh OK, yes it would be much cheaper to drive up and tow it home, assuming they can register it for NSW, failing that hire a trailer to bring it home.

...and check it out thoroughly while your there instead of it arriving and finding it isnt what you thought and arguing over who pays freight and waiting etc.. it would also fit the trailer properly instead of making it fit your trailer.
just a thought.

ive confused everybody 

if i could get the tent sent down, $105 ish and put it on a custom made trailer .

or to get the off road package [ trailer and tent ] it would cost $700-$800 to get it sent down . if i was to do this i may as well go up there , pick it up and have a camping holiday while i was there .

I'd take your trailer up there, put the tent on and go to Frazer for a week

as said you can get the tent from penrith but he also does a great trailer amate has one and he cant fault it done plenty of ks now on and offroad check out the website

Not sure I can follow the thread, about driving it down?  But in terms of quality, I have seen one in the flesh, thats been set up outside as a display for over 2 years.  It looks the goods.

Austrack were great to deal with, sent my 12' tent to the transport depot in Necastle (Wickham) and they forked it straight onto the trailer, no issues.
Tent itself is quite ok for me, first canvas tent so anyway.  Have put 600n gas struts on the tent to help open it.
Get the storm cover, 100% water proof. Tarp for heat during summer.
