Hi all,
We have an old (2004) Outback Sturt camper which is a little ripper apart from the kitchen. It's made of particle board and weighs about 23 metric tons and needs two people to get it slid out and set up. The weight of the kitchen needs to be supported while it is slid out to its fullest extent until its legs are put down and again the weight needs to be supported while the legs are folded up and the kitchen is more than halfway to being stowed.
What I'm after is a new LIGHT, one person operation kitchen. Does anyone have any ideas about where such a beast can be sourced? The newer models of the Sturt have a stainless or aluminium kitchen and are MUCH lighter and would be the sort of thing I'm looking for. Needless to say I'm very much against paying a kings ransom for another kitchen.

Try Drifta 4WD products.

DIY ???

COuld you mount a kitchen to the tailgate so when it opens up its there... no need for legs
example - how mine started..

After having it modified.

I have a drifta in the back of my car and luckily it cost me SFA, DIY from marine ply will be your cheapest option and mount it on decent weight rated sliders.
I made my own 2.1m sliders from 25mm tube with a slot cut into it and skateboard bearings with spacers when i replaced the kitchen in my old camper trailer.

Hi, I have a sturt and I know about trying to pull out that heavy kitchen.
I messed around with it for a long time with ropes and jockey wheels and eventually bought some big draw slides from Dunn and Watson and spent a fair amount of time fitting them but it's has completely fixed the problem.
It would be easier to fit them if you measure and order slides to suit the length of the slide out. I bought a standard length and that made it a bit harder to fit..

Thanks heaps for that. I know who I'm gonna be calling tomorrow... :D That only leaves the ladder issue to solve. The ladder issue is needed so we can get up to the bed easily. We're both getting on a bit and we both have various bad joints so the standard step up doesn't cut it. It's a looong way from floor to bed.. :D
